Hi all.
Being a long time user of nVidia I am trying to learn how to use the ATI card to it's fullest and I feel like I am spinning my tires. Any who the biggest complaint right now is I can't play Half Life Day of Defeat MOD without it acting stupid and I am not sure why ... I am running the game in OpenGL @ 1024, 16bit, and the catalyst are at default settings and no OC'ing. The problem in the game reminds you of how the game flows and moves when you are on Dailup (no it's not my connection that's the prob.). I look at the Catalyst settings and I am only confussed as to what to change / try and I haven't had any luck searching for help. To try and better descripe the problem it's like this, when peps move past you in the game it's a jerky type thing instead of a smooth fluid motion and it looks the same with the envoriment when I move. Some times it's so bad that if I snip in the game it's a delay of movement with the gun recoil after firing a shot. Also the Desktop / Standard pgms. / Windows doesn't really look all that good either, the text and Icons are some what blurry, I am using the same monitor, CPU, Mobo, and mem. that I was using with my nVidia and it didn't do this. For what it's worth when I first got the card (02/04/04) I installed it with the 4.10 Catalyst had problems with Desktop Text and Icons being blury and the game so I cleaned out the drivers and went to the 3.6 and still had the same probs. so I figure with the switch from nVidia to ATI maybe a fresh install of XP would do the trick, well here I am with a fresh format and install and the latest and "greatest" catalyst from ATI and still having the same issues. I have also tried changing the Apeture size (I run it 128 normally), The AGP to 4x auto and now 8x, I have disabled the Fast Write, and I am sure a few other things I can't recall. I don't know anything about the driver settings and I am not sure what to change to see if it would help any. Also I might point out that I used the Rage3D utility and set it to Half Life prior to going into the game and it only made it worse. ![]() Any who, any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

I vagely rember seeing a huge diff going from my MSI 4200ti ATI 128mb to a 9800 pro.... what are your other system specs? power could be the issue if you havent got a about a 400W+ PSU
