Just a note for you guys.
I can't understand why you don't edit the xt bios first and put it on the original clock speed of your card, then overclock via software... This can save your card hehehe
:P

you cannot.... :-(
I always used to use my finger on the back of the card where the Core is... if it felt to hot for me I would upgrade my cooling... but there is no problem any more ever since I have ArticeCooling on it.. and Im upgrading to a VGA watter block soon... to add to my already working CPU cooling system...

you can never be too cool with electronics... the lower the temps the better thte preformance and the longer the life time...

good luck
me972

p.s. sorry for taking long to answer I wasn't able due to heavy loads at work.

use your finger, if you can let it there for abour 3 seconds or more, you are ok, if something less than that yep it's too hot

Dont agree there im afraid, on my pro bios i could oc my card to 490 cpu, 400 mem, ive upgraded the bios and now i cant get it above 454 / 370,
""However"" i have noticed a speed increase clock for clock, ie if i ran with a pro and xt bios at the same speed the xt would win.

Unfortunatly i believe the lower latency memory on an XT is the problem, i get memory slashes even on XT basic speeds, so my advice to people is, its faster yes, but unless your graphics card memory runs at 2.8ns it is generally better and more stable to use your original pro bios

I liked the results when i used, i didn't used all xt speeds but i could see the diference with the same speeds. The problem was that i lost reflection effect on a game (lineage2) lost water reflection, hope i to find a xt bios that don't do that :/

which means that I was right and the flash worked for you giving you better results all over even though you couldn't get the same clock rates...
mind you that Im sure that I could mod your original PRO BIOS to XT allowing you to o/c to the same speeds and enjoy the benifits ofthe XT optimizations..

I was originaly refering to one case I've heard about that the guy flash to XT and his scores all over were alot less on XT then on PRO....I have no Idea why but thats the story..

as for loosing reflection effects?!?!?! I've never seen that problem before ever with an XT bios flash - this might be driver related meaning you might need a clean install of windows after you flash and then use OMEGA...

Is there any chance that you might be able to modify the latest Cat.12 drivers for our cards just in case Omega doesn't do it? I would like to see if the HL2 "stuttering" disappears once for all. That's if you have a chance to work on them. Thanks in advance...

intresting, so you believe that with my original bios you can "fix" it to become an xt, but remain as stable as the pro, would i be able to do this? or is it best to post it on over to you? if you wouldnt mind that is?

I have no problem in modding the drivers for you but OMEGA adds much more to the original drivers in settings and the control pannel.
OMEGA is back to working on the drivers he just needed some time off I think he's drivers will be out this up coming sunday morning like always...
so do as I do - jus wait for them.

@me972

Could it be possible to fix the Device ID problem that haunts us by editing the BIOS to give the card the same Device ID as an OEM XT?

hay there, sorry for the delay, ive been a bit busy, anyhow, cheers for the BIOS image im using yours at the moment with no serious problems at your speeds, i cant get my speed up to previous levels but have discovered that aquamark is perhaps not the best benchmark to use, ist so dark u cant see CPU dot errors and memory slashes can also be a problem to see, so there is a good chance my 520 / 960 was not as stable as i thought!!

as for that device ID issue you just mentioned,....what issue? my ID is changed to that of an XT?

On my case, my device ID changed to something other than to the device of an XT. That wa the problem I was discussing with you via e-mail when I first tried this modification. I believe the fix you sent me to use the Omega Drivers makes the drivers work with my device ID or somethig like that. (corect me if I'm wrong). What I meant to say was that if there is a way to change the device ID on the BIOS so that when I flash it on my card it's already recognized as an XT without needing to use a fix to allow driver packages to work on our cards. I read somewhere else that some owners of 9800 PRO's equipped with the 350 core had to do this in order for their card to be recognized as an XT by windows. Sorry for my ignorance, I'm just trying to find out if this can help us or not.

well - SE users can flash to XT bios but have to use OMEGA drivers for their cards to be recognized. its a problem that can't be over come. at least not in a way I'm going to share with you here since some might blow up their cards doing it and I dont want to take the chance.

as for PRO users they only have to flash the bios and the card will always be recognized as XT no matter if they use CAT's or Omega or any other.

it has to do with the way the drivers recognize the first 2 digits of the BIOS and ASIC ID... I wont bore you to death with it....just trust me that its better to wait for every OMEGA release...

Yo.

Can you tell me iif my card has any chances for bios mod and will i benefit from it ?

Card is PowerColor 9800se 380/300 ( from bios files on techpowerup.com i think 3.3ns) 8 pipes work flawlessly and my max oc is around 450 / 350.

Colling is zalman passive with 2 fans and some mem sinks.

[EDIT] Samsung mem chips

I'm using a (Built by) ATI All-in-Wonder 9800 Pro, and none of the BIOS ROMs you guys have posted worked. Good thing I backed up my chip's BIOS, or I would be in trouble.

Is there a particular revision that is supposed to work for my card, or am I just one of the unlucky few?

it should work if I mod your original BIOS to XT... send it over by email.

My 9800pro 128mb built by Ati is stable at the standard XT speeds of 412/365 with no artifacting

My question is should I use the BB ATi Samsung XT bios or the Samsun-E XT bios?
