I never forgot 3dmaxx I helped run the same thread in 3dmaxx as well.... I even tried to help the owner to get it online... but didn't hold... after he came back with another domain name it just wasn't the same... and people never came back.. thats how I came across DriverHeaven. I got in touch with Zardon and he helped build up this thread and the www.hardwareheaven.com/bios host. which was build with the help of what I managed to salvage from 3dmaxx after the host deleted the site... so please... dont be a smart ass... cause it doesn't become you.. and does not go well with the spirit of this thread..

what version of flashrom are you useing?? 2.40 is the latest.
are you entering the correct command?
what mfg of card do you have???
have you tried a different bios file? i had some modded bios files that just would not flash.

I have a Palit 9800se that work's great softmoded.
It has a R360 core.
I have Samsung 2.8 ns memory, and STANDARD pcb like pro.
I've tried flashing other bios.. but it says: bios locked.
So I had to flashed with this command: flashrom -p -sst 0 bios.bin -f
It worked.. but only when flashed with his own bios, if I try a 9800pro/se/xt bios, my computer doesn't boot anymore

Ok.. no problem.. inserted a pci card, reflash to original, and everything was ok again :P
Withch biose to use :P ?

What can I do to make it work like xt, and use r360 core ?

Palit 9800SE to XT
I've finaly did it. Palit 9800se 128M 256Bits With Samsung 2.8 ms memory to XT
Try this at your own risk.
1. Hardmoded it using a graphite pen.
2. Put ati silencer 1 rev 2 on it
3. Flash with my bios using this command for flashrom 2.40: flashrom -p -sst 0 bios.bin -f
Bios File Here: http://forums.techpowerup.com/attach...tachmentid=364
Bios.bin is your bios file.
If you don't use this command the card won't flash because it's locked.
Other thing: if you don't flash this bios, It won't work!!! Simply the card won't boot, and you need an aditional pci card to restore it.

This bios Is set XT default speeds 412/365 and optimized so it will support this speed if you have a silencer on it.
I had to edit several mem settings, because Palit 9800SE mem settings are more agressive then XT.
The reson that this card won't accept any other bios is some sort of code added to bios image, so I had to edit it from original bios.
This one is R360 core (mine) if you wan't one for R350 mail me.
By the way ... Before hard moding and patching the bios I had some sort of checker bord in some games 9some areas)

I've spend 1 hour trying to unlock it with graphite pen. If intersted.. I'll make a post how to doit

Good on you man... welcome to the XT club.

Id just like to add to what you've said..... AFTER doing the hard mod you donot need to use the OMEGA moded drivers any more...
you can either use OMEGA regular install or the CAT's by ATI.... the will both recognize your card as an XT and will work with all 8 pipes enabled.

ALL af you out there let me remind you that doing the hard mod will revoke your warenty so be carfull as to what you do.... if your a complete newbie ask first and do after... this why we are here...

It works perfectly. I know about the drivers.. I don't like moded ones. Omega in normal mode mutch more stable.
Abaut the waranty.. I won't loose it.. because I've hardmoded using a graphite pen, using a method invented by me (surface was too much like glass so the graphite can make connection )

Anny way.. by I've used the pulber from graphite pen, witch under presure (by pressing) makes a good connecton.

I can easealy erase it any time I want :P
The reson I've post previos post is for the ones with Palit 9800se this card cand be easy soft moded.. but when it cames to harmoding you have a problem.. It won't accept any other bios except his own.. and bios locked.. so I've post that how you can bypass it.

From your attached pic... it result that you are trying to use a bios with diferent mem config.. I think it won't work.. if you are trying a bios for samsung on hynix card.

What card do you have ?

Just dont be alarmed about all this... if you have any sort of know how in soldering and electronics this is going to be a quicky... and you've got a full XT
if this is the first time your handling a soldering iron then go find a good friend that can help or an electronics shop to help you...

Okay i got it flashed from a 9800PRO SAMSUNG to a 9800XT SAMSUNG and now when I try to play CS (OPENGL) OR cs:SOURCE (DX)

My windows screen is fine,everything is fine till it goes into game.

Also a note when the pc first boots into windows (windows login screen) the monitor goes idle for 10 seconds than comes back and it boots into windows.

That XT bios is wrong for you... if you want you can send me a copy of your original BIOS and I'll make you one thats compatible with your card...

use aida32 to see that.
This bios posted by me, is only for Palit 9800SE 128M 256Bits
For this card no other bios worked, no SE bios, PRO, XT, none. so I guest my bios won't work for ofther cards too.

Marlin DriverHeaven Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Posts: 24 Rep Power: 0	Okay i got it flashed from a 9800PRO SAMSUNG to a 9800XT SAMSUNG and now when I try to play CS (OPENGL) OR cs:SOURCE (DX) I get this: http://img270.echo.cx/img270/88/snapshot00019ru.jpg My windows screen is fine,everything is fine till it goes into game. Also a note when the pc first boots into windows (windows login screen) the monitor goes idle for 10 seconds than comes back and it boots into windows.
