So confused!!!
well its me again....once again investigating the TRUE identity of my Radeon 9800 "pro"....i decided to try to Product Number search on the ATI website, and it came up with this: RADEON 9800 128MB VGA-VO-DVII - DELL, COMPAQ 113A07517100 102A0753400
so i emailed the company on ebay that i bought my card from, saying: "Hello its me again...I did a little bit of research on ATI's website..looked up my Radeon 9800 "Pro"'s Product Number...heres what I got: RADEON 9800 128MB VGA-VO-DVII - DELL, COMPAQ 113A07517100 102A0753400 seems that I've got a Radeon 9800 non-pro isthere anyway to get a replacement since I got a non-Pro instead of a Pro like I paid for." the company replied saying: "This is Pro. And this is the OEM card from DELL. After you installed the card, you will see that this is a Pro card. I don't know what the information on ATI web site really mean. Does the "Radeon 9800" means the "Radeon 9800 Family"? We have sold bunches of these cards (see the feedback). If you don't satisfied with this card, the only way is that you return the card and we give you full refund. Thanks." im so confused now i dont know what to believe....the "Radon 9800 blah blah blah" that the ati website says is my card could either mean 1. i have a 9800 NP pulled from a dell, or 2. it means its a Radeon 9800 series/family card pulled from a dell.. it may be possible that the company i bought the card from simply took the card out of a dell thinking it was a 9800 pro but really was a 9800 NP... one thing that is a bit suspicious to me and makes me think my card is a 9800 NP is the fact that even with a very nice IceBerq 4 cooler on it, the GPU will only overclock to 391 mhz bfore it starts getting artifacts, when i know friends that have the same card and get 415 - 430mhz on STOCK COOLING without ANY artifacts.. pls help me to find out the true identity of my card ![]() also, to help me out, if anyone that has a BBAti(built by ati, 3rd partys dont work i dont think) could pls put in their radeon 9800 pro/se/xt/whatever in the little box and tell me what is says heres the link here P.S.: i know i could easily send my card back to the buisness and ask for a full refund of my $219, wait a week or so for paypal to transfer the cash onto a credit card, then simply order a new 9800 pro from an acual store, but i have no other video card to use until the new card would get here...already gave away my old gf4 mx440 :'{ |

If the label on the back says RADEON 9800 128MB then you have the NP. If it says RADEON 9800 PRO 128MB then you have the pro, simple as that.

Well you did your research and if it says the p/n you have is a 9800 NP then it could be. I think you should return that and buy a new one if you can wait for it. Newegg is a good place you buy it. You won't get good overclocking results though, because the cards from Newegg usually have the R360 w/ Samsung 8E mem. The memory is good, but the core isn't... =/
By the way, not all cards overclock well, some does well than others. The iceberq 4 isn't that good of a hsf. You should've kept the stock on there, cause the iceberq is no different than the stock cooler. Anywho, if I were you I would RMA. |
