ECS Laptop with 9600 Radeon questions

Hello there, I am new here, I had a few questions.

With the Omega Drivers, do I have to modify them using the laptop modifer? I am trying to run a beta called City of Heroes, and am having a variety of problems with getting it to work. The beta runs flawelessly on my desktop system with the 4.3 catlyst drivers and a 9800 pro 256k card.

Originally I took the 4.4 drivers, and modified them for laptop with the modifer from the site here, and I get random freezes in the game.

I then tried to use the Omega drivers, and have not used the program to modify them. Should I? I freeze immediatly with the non modified Omega drivers apon loading into the game.

Furthermore I hear references to fast write should be enabled ONLY on a 9600, why is this out of curiousity.
