dude if the leaked specs of r420 are true it will desicrate all......and PAWN all nvidiots

nvidia is on its way out nvidia on it way in ... that was long ago now it's an ati dominated market!

it's nice to see that nvida had laerd from ati by way of desighn and features in thier drivers refects that they've been playing fallow the leader (ATI)

you won't know the features of R420 till ati is ready for u to know... if there as advertised rumored justthe clock sppeds alone will blow NV's offering off the table and into the trash lol

and there is more then r420 under ati's cap as terry from ati said in his last interview something "big" comeing...

just wait n see hehe nobody knows which card will truly be better than the other right now....just wait on buying a new card till ALL the new ones are out(or if you can, wait until after hl2 is out and plenty of good nv40/r420 benchmarks with hl2 are out) or you may regret your decision later

edit: btw DriverEuro, the 3dmark2001/2003 links in your sig are both broken(possibly because you didnt publish the 2 benchmarks)

Big Grin

From all the reviews I read on NV40 today I get the feeling that it is design to beat the R3x class, it doesn't give me the same feeling that the first Geforce give me. New Trueform tech would be so sweet.....

No way to know, since all of the competition is unavailable at the moment.

Kudo's to Nvidia for fixing a lot of the problems on the NV30 series with the new NV40 series, but since we have not seen what the R420 from ATI is going to be like, it's impossible to know which will be better.

About the only thing you can be ASSURED of, is the new ATI board will have AT LEAST the IQ of the 9800XT, and be faster than the R360 series is. Anything beyond that, is pure speculation, unless your one of the privileged few with inside information.

When the time for me to upgrade rolls around, I'll use the same method I always have... First I'll decide on the budget, then attempt to build the fastest I can get for the dollars involved. Whether the specific parts come with a cute "Intel/AMD/ATI/Nvidia/SIS/Via" or any others companies logo on it, is of no real importance to me, since "I" don't have a vested interest in any of them.

This same theory holds true for me, on choice of OS, software, and whatever else you can think of that is computer related. I'll use whatever OS and software that I think will best suit my needs, I don't care if it comes from Redhat, Sun, Microsoft or Apple. All I care about is what it offers me, and how much using it will cost me. I've bought from Nvidia for years (3DFX before that) and I'm currently running a ATI board at the moment... It came down to who was offering the best product for the dollars I had decided to spend, which is the exact same method I'll use for any future purchases.

Fanboy's can buy whatever they wish... I'll buy whatever I think is best

Another big plus is the programmable video processor included in the nv40.
It will be great if the R420 will have something like that, but a sizeable upset if it doesn't

Lets not call names here. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I believe everyone should wait for a while. If you have a 9700 pro or above, wait until the fall. Wait until the mid range stuff comes out and the fall refresh makes a showing. I am thinking the 12 pipe card from ATI will make the best bang for the buck when the price starts to roll down to a tolerable level. I know that I would never pay 400+ for a video card. I always play a wait and see approach and never been wrong about that way of thinking yet. Nvidia's midrange parts may also be great performers, which I believe they will be. I think this summer will be exciting without a doubt.

And I would love to see PVR back in the game. If the Dreamcast from a few years ago is any sign of what PVR can do, than I my eyes are wide open.
