Ignition is on a distinguished road

My new Sapphire R9800 Pro

I got it today from newegg. It came with Hyrix 2.8ns RAM and one of the bigger HSF over the R360 core. I have flashed it to R9800XT and overclocked it to 435Mhz/385Mhz. Good stuff so far, scored 6193 on 3DMark03 and 18730 on 3DMark01 w/my CPU at 2.3Ghz (200Mhz FSB).

I like it so far!!!

Isn't that..

Kinda low? I got my R9800 PRO (Pre-flashed to XT since it came from MSI) and I hit 65XX with only an OC of 398/357 with a P4 2.4B @ 3.24 GHz. My 01 score is 18.5 K

3Dmark03 is a video card dependent benchmark so.. CPU speed has little effect on it.

I paid $209 for it. My low score could have been becuase I didn't format after installing the card, just re-installed the Cat drivers on Win2000Pro and ran the benchmarks. I am about to install WinXP Pro soon, so I'll let you know and maybe post a compare link

the CPU has little to zero impact on the 3Dmark03 score.... and for 3dmark01se.... having a Barton @ 200FSB and 2.4ghz and a intel at 3.2, there shouldn't be much of a different at all preformance wise.... actually.. i think the barton overclocked as high as he has it.. he should be outpreforming the intel...

Raw mhz speed makes little difference in 3d03 scores, however higher fsb will make a difference. I wonder what fsb he's running at. I do believe intel cpus have higher fsbs.

I believe that's 3DMark01 you're refering to.. FSB makes a big difference there. My FSB is 180 MHz.. and quad pumped to 720 MHz. I've always believed that 3DMark03 as a benchmark which focuses more on the video card than any other aspect.

Well I Installed WinXP Pro and about the same results as I got with Win2kpro. However I am getting the SAME results with Call Of Duty from my R9800NP that was at 400/325. I get these same annoying slow downs and stutter every now and then, but when I don't i get a constent 90fps.

you just answered a question i was having regarding the diff between winXP to the win2k-pro in games/benches , i assumed there isn't any change so good to know thats the case (not replacing my rock stable win2k for nothing)
i didnt have that luck with the r9800pro i got it about 5 months ago in bestbuy and its with the r350 but still an excellent card and i can oc it up to 425/365 on stock cooling with no artifacts in games but i notch it down to 400-410/350 to not overstress it.
not sure what my avarage fps in cod but i guess around the 100+- much higher at peaks.
hitman3 gets can get to the 150s+ easily.
my next move is to flash it to the giga-cube bios below:
http://www.ocfaq.com/softmod/bios/G...128.Samsung.bin
this bios enables default clockspeeds of 398/351 stock, also should give better ram overclocking.

btw good to know some flightsimmers are in here , im an il2 fanatic playing it online with a squad with trackIR , did you ever try it?
my avarage fps for il2 online is usualy around the 40fps with high settings and AAX6/AFX16 on 1024*786@32bit75hz.
flightsims are tough on the fps, especially il2.

cheers , ledzep.
