Sad Problem with 9600XT

I've tried a Radeon 9600XT and an All-In-Wonder 9600XT and have the same problems with both. In Adobe Illustrator 10 the video crashes whenever the "Open" or "Save As" dialog boxes come up. The VPU Recover app resets the graphics chip and I usually get back to the original screen (sometimes it freezes the whole system). Also in Joint Ops: Typhoon Rising, the video crashes every 15-30 seconds. Again, VPU Recover resets the VPU and I'm back in game. Very, very annoying to say the least. I'm using the lates Catalyst drivers (4.7) and I've also tried older Catalyst drivers and the latest Omega drivers. Any ideas or suggestions?

Welcome Both of you

I don't have that program, but have you guys updated the program to 10.0.3?

You can also try disabling VPU Recovery in the ATI Control Panel.

I suggest that if you have not done so to submit the issue to ATI Catalyst Bug submission or also contact the ATI support

Same problem here...

I bought a ATI Radeon 9600XT a few months ago, and had the same problem: VPU recovers and black screens during any game. Until I installed the Omega drivers (based on catalyst 4.3) and my problems were gone.

BUT.........

Last week i decided to install the newest catalyst 4.7 drivers from ATI, the bigest mistake... VPU recovery all over the screen
So I downloaded the newest omega driver, uninstalled all ati stuff and installed omegadriver. That didn't work out neither, still problems. So I uninstalled that Omega driver, and installed the omegadrivers I used until last week (based on Catalyst 4.3). But my system keeps locking up! I don't know what to do! I had a perfect running system, so there must be a way to solve it. Someone knows a solution?

Cheers all.

My config:
BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.0
Motherboard: Asus A7V600-X
Processor: AMD Athlon(TM) XP 3000+, ~2.2GHz

DirectX 9.0c
Graphics Card: RADEON 9600 Series (Omega 2.5.58)
Soundcard: SB Live! Audio

Nellix is on a distinguished road

I think i have the same problem with my 9600. All games I have tryed last month are freezing or reseting CPU after 2 or 3 minutes of playing them.

I also get som error report like this:

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1987 MHz with 511MB RAM
Video: RADEON 9600 Series (Omega 2.5.51) (6451)
General protection fault!

History: FSkinVertexStream::GetStreamData <- FD3DVertexStream::Cache <- FD3DRenderInterface::SetVertexStreams <- USkeletalMeshInstance::Render <- FDynamicActor::Render <- FActorSceneNode::Render <- UShadowBitmapMaterial::Get <- FD3DRenderInterface::SetProjectorMaterial <- FD3DRenderInterface::SetMaterial <- ATerrainInfo::Render::RenderProjectors <- ATerrainInfo::Render <- RenderLevel <- FLevelSceneNode::Render <- FPlayerSceneNode::Render <- UGameEngine:raw <- UWindowsViewport::Repaint <- UWindowsClient::Tick <- ClientTick <- UGameEngine::Tick <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop

This error was with old set of Omega drivers. The same hapens with new set based on Catalyst 4.8 and with original 4.8. I have also tryed original driver down to 4.3, but is always the same. Also I have tryed FastWrite Off in SmartGart and in Matherbord BIOS, but nothing hapened.

I think the graphic card is broken? Can anybody help me?
