Its added by ATI driver.. same place temporallAA located http://www.elitebastards.com/page.ph...d=1&comments=1
Here is reg key if u wanna add it yourself "DisableProgPCILatency"=dword:00000001 You really dont even need to change DisableProPCI key unless u want agp latency to run same as bios pci setting. If u want to run dif agp lat, then you can use WPCREDIT to change the setting. WPCRSET does not work. It seems that WPCRSET loads 1st (setting value), then windows loads ATI drivers & checks DisableProPCI, then resets its value (1 = bios setting, 0 = 244/255). Dont wanna take credit away from patch maker.. someone's work to better the community is always appreciated on my end. WPCREDIT works fine for me, I use it change agp latency b4 I play a game or watch a movie. I had no problems with agp latency 32/64/128/255 & lower lats work better for me.Changes reset on reboot if u should encounter any problems. btw.. Neon, check pm ... still have hl2 coupon for sale?

Ok here is an easy way to set it with your driver install
open you ati driver .inf's look for [ati2mtag_SoftwareDeviceSettings] Add the line: HKR,, DisableProgPCILatency, %REG_DWORD%, 1 but anywhere before the lines start to read HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ then install your drivers and walla you done.... verified it works properly! before 255 now 32 by default

do we have some benchmarks to show the diff between regular latency and modded latency?

It's not really a benching tweak. It's just for stuttering conflicts between pci and agp.

okay.
well I had hoped it would fix the blasted audio problem with some DX games but it did not. All of the patches and fixes for this seem not to work which discourages me greatly *sigh*

oh...the usual popping and crackeling. Funny thing is that it is REALLY bad in Halo(I swear that game gives me more trouble every day) and pretty bad in some other games. I have a Live! 5.1 very new. It happens when hardware acceleration is on with EAX 1. When I use EAX2 though, the sound is WONDERFUL! But only one of my games really supports EAX2 (call of duty)
btw I've done the registry edit to turn off the turbo thing and it didnt work.

DUDE i found a patch for SB cards ... it disables the TURBO reg entry for the sound card.. or you can go into the registry and select EDIT--SEARCH-- and type TURBO and keep serching till you find the one in the UMU10K1 regisrty entry...once TURBO is disabled all crackling and poping is gone... My SB live 5.1 used to crackled real bad but now its awesome..!!!!... works for audigy cards too !!!

Just so I am clear on how to do the tweak:
There are TWO options to do the tweak: 1. Use the LtcyCfg program, create the config file, and put it in startup folder OR... 2. Go to RegEdit and search for DisableProgPCILatency and change the DWORD value to "1". Is my understanding correct? Also, for #2, I actually found the key "DisableProgPCILatency" in more than 5 places. They are: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Cl ass\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Cl ass\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\Settings HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Vi deo\{7F7C217A-09BF-413F-8F80-17D578A5D711}\0000 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Vi deo\{7F7C217A-09BF-413F-8F80-17D578A5D711}\0001 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Vi deo\{7F7C217A-09BF-413F-8F80-17D578A5D711}\0000 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\a ti2mtag\Device0 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\ati2mtag\Device0 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Control\Cl ass\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Control\Cl ass\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\Settings HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Control\Vi deo\{7F7C217A-09BF-413F-8F80-17D578A5D711}\0000 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Control\Vi deo\{7F7C217A-09BF-413F-8F80-17D578A5D711}\0001 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\a ti2mtag\Device0 ... and about 3 more. Am I supposed to change all of this?

yep I did it 7 times. half of the keys arent even used by anything I reccon. and I think every time you install new drivers old display keys are still there and new ones are created.

To set the agp latency to 32ms in bios, do you use the pci latency? Theres no separate agp latency is there?

Hmm.. I just wondering: WHAT will be the effect if I COMBINE both the solution? i.e. perform the registry tweak AND run the LtcyCfg program?

I tried this and it I still have crackling and poping while playing BFV with EAX on. I only get the cracking and what not when im in planes or in tanks
. Really gets to me so i have to play with miles audio. Miles is ok, but i miss the fullness you get from EAX in BFV. Anyone have this problem, or is it a lost cause?

Just a thought but people with sound issues, what if you try adjusting the latency higher for the soundcard. If I understand correctly this would give it control over the bus for a longer time. Mine by default is set at 32. Maybe bump it up to 64 or 128. Might be worth a try.

Update:
if you guys dont want to do this tweak by editing files ect or makeing auto bat files the latest omega 4.8`s have the updated ATI tool v0.0.21 and it allows AGP latency Change to 32 ![]() or you can download the standalone ati tool package it does the same thing aswell unless you havent already downloaded the omega set or you want something smaller if you dont want to download the set / |

I used to have cracks and pops and even static "wheezing" sounds all the time with my Audigy XGamer. I found though, when I go into the sound settings, volumes, I mute (turn all the way down) the CDAudio and the LINE IN, it eliminates these sounds. My cd audio still works perfectly though and I dont have to go and turn it back up.
This is just my personal experience however, worth a shot since its quick though. ------------------------------------------------------------- Athlon XP @ 3200 M7NCD Pro Mobo 1gig PC3200 Ram 9-3-3-2.5 X800 Pro modded to XT Audigy X-GAMER |

Well after setting ALL 24 entries of DisableProgPCILatency to 1, my AGP latency(9800 Pro) did indeed switch to 32 on the next reboot. I haven't really noticed any improvement in my games or desktop; important thing is there's no bad side effects.
Anyone else had to change 24 entries?

My unian 4.7's have the PCI Latency option in general settings for Hardware in the ati tray tool. It's simple with no registery editing needed and you can tick box that says apply hardware settings at startup which will keep the pci latency setting that you specified the same. I haven't experienced any popping or crackling sounds with my audigy LS yet. If I do then I will try this out. I keep mine set at 255. Good work guys on posting this stuff for people to help them.

I tried practically any available latencyes using ATItool but games still stutter
I noticed Stuttering since upgrading My vidcard from Ti4400 (GF4) to ATI9800XT. I tried other tweaks also but no success. So now i'm gonna take 6800GT for testing and if it doesn't stutter I'll change 9800Xt to 6800GT and never will go back to ATI.
