Welcome to DriverHeaven,
is the powerconnector properly connected and does your powersupplie meet the requirements (it probably does if you can run the 9800xt which uses more juice)? if both are ok try if you can test the card in another pc, if you don't have one a friend might be willing to help. If that doesn't work i would advise going back to your dealer and RMA it. GL

download driver cleaner here and install then read the read me thats within the file.
remove the cats then run driver cleaner in safe mode. reboot. re-install you're chipset drivers and reboot. re-install dx9.0c and reboot. re-install the vga(cats) drivers. x800pros are good cards.....and only require a 300w psu min,but that does also depend on what you have connected, amount of fans etc. all vga cards that require a psu connection for additional power will work without it connected.but you will receive a warning message upon booting up.you will not be able to play d3d games without it connected. are any pins on the monitor connection bent. |

In case nothing else seems to help, check up on any BIOS update holding some AGP related improvement from the motherboard manufacturer.

dont think any of that will help him mate as he is getting no monitor output , but the pc is still posting. if its posting then he is also getting enough power. i think the card is faulty or you havent quite pluged the monitor cable in right.... try useing the VGA/DVI adapter see if it outputs ????? only thing i can think of other than trying the card in another system , im 50/50 that your card is borked. |

oops... i did not mention to do this with the 9800xt installed.
should of been remove drivers as above.then swap the cards over then try from the third sentence. i were going to add that if this does not work then there is a strong possibility the card has a fault and probably worth exchanging the card. |

I'm having the same problem. No video output during POST, video output comes back on for a few seconds, then stays off until Windows displays a welcome screen.

Hey Deamos. that would be a problem with your monitor, I'm pretty sure. And its not so much that it wont display until windows, its more like the screen has a long warmup sequence and since it has to switch screens many times on boot, it never gets finished until the welcome screen.
wait that wasnt explained well...uuhg okay basically its your monitor most likely. Test it out with a different monitor. Like a brand new one. is yours new? or old? what brand(im bettin sony, neh?)

You've got the 9800 back in the computer and all is well now - one little question will help you know for sure if the card is no good, so long as the extra power connector was plugged in securely and the monitor cable was well seated in the VGA output connector of the card...
Did the power indicator on your monitor stay amber, or green, or did it change at all when you booted the computer with the X800 installed? If it stayed amber constantly during bootup and for, say, a minute after turning the computer on, the card is definitely bad. The power indicator LED on your monitor also serves as a video (vertical) sync pulse indicator for the output of your card. If there is no sync pulse (hence no video output as the sync pulse is part of the video waveform) then there is no video ouput from the card, and the LED stays amber. The indicator on your monitor will turn green when it senses the sync pulse (hence video - hopefully worth displaying ) and fire up the high voltage stage to light up the picture tube.Hope this helps...

not a monitor problem...I throw my 9700 pro in and everything works perfectly.. I've had the problem before with another video card in the past but I cant remember what fixed it.
