What's your pick for your VGA cooler

I have seen the Giant III, Zalman Heat Pipes, Home Made like myself with an old Thermaltake volcano heatsink w/60 mm 5700rpm fan bolted onto the card...yikes!! I have some pictures but those will have to wait for tomorrow night. What I am really liking is this little Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer 1. It looks like a great unit and for the person who isn't pushing their card to the max all the time, it looks to be a nice fix.

Anyone out there using this yet, and if so, whaddya think of it??

My vote is for the Arctic Cooling unit. I have the V4, which is so far the best unit since it includes RAM heatsinks.

I just got my AC silencer1 and its great. I switched from my zalman to this and was able to clock the gpu 10 more mhz too 421 from 411 with the zalman. I would recommend the AC silencer over the zalman ( the AC is way easier to install also ).

I wouldn't go with any cooler that does not help pushing some of the heat out the back of the case. It's a simple idea that works really well, especially as the graphics card is one of the hottest running parts in a system today.

I use the AC ATI Silencer 1 on my R9800pro and it was easy to mount. That it is very inexpensive also shows in some details of the construction, so I wouldn't have minded it if they had gone for a bit higher production cost. Quite a few have had issues with the fan emitting an audible ticking noise at full speed, and since the new cooler series does not have the high/low switch that the original did you'll have to lower the voltage yourself somehow. It's rumored that Arctic Cooling will or already have fixed the ticking noise on later manufacturing series, but many flawed units have been shipped at any rate. Apparently I happened to get an especially noisy fan as I needed to lower it down to around 5-7V to get the noise down, but even then the cooling is good enough for some overclocking. Another nod towards the direct exhaust solution, no doubt.

Seeing as how you don't have to break any seals of any type to install the Arctic cooling unit, you should be able to clean up your card, put the stock cooler back on and still make it look like the original unit.
