HELP Big Error in Far Cry/Half-Life 2

I've been having this error in Far Cry and now it has happened in Half-Life 2 to the point where I can't get by a certain part. It has only happened twice in Half-Life 2 but now I'm stuck cause it's hindering my ability to beat this part. When I look at certain textures the graphics start flipping out. For instance, in Half-Life 2 when you have to shoot the helicopter down with the rocket launcher I can't shoot the helicopter cause when I look at it it gives me this screen. Please Help

Is your system overclocked?
Are you using the latest Directx?

Perhaps install new 4.12 beta's after removing them with add/remove programs and then drivercleaner. Make sure you use the old Control panel from ATI, disable fast rights too.

i have latest directx, not overclocked at all, ive tried tons of different drivers including omega's ive had this problem for awhile, ill try disabling fast-write where can i do that in ccc?

Fast rights can be disabled in two places. The BIOS and the ATI control pannel. What Version of control pannel are you using?

im using catalyst 4.11 right now i tried disabling fast write via ccc didn't do anything for the game still same problem

is the fan working on your card? and what graphics card is it? have you tried reinstalling your chipset drivers as well?

im pretty sure its not a hardware issue because this happens only with certain textures, in half-life 2 its the helicopter, the graphics card is an x800 pro and are the chipset drivers any different than installing the drivers from the ati website?

unless you have the ATi motherboard chipset then i doubt it is the same at all!!

your motherboard chipset drivers control the AGP etc

what chipset do you have? Intel, Nvidia or VIA? or ATi? lol

Ok here is what i'd do:

Remove your drivers completly and download these: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/wxp-8-08-041110a-019199.exe download only those from that URL, make sure you remove the ATI control pannel and all ATI related drivers that are graphic card based, use drivercleaner, install those drivers and test then get back to me.

i did eveyrthing you said and its same old error, when i go far enough away from the ship i can kind of see it its got some weird textures coming out of it that go on off the screen but the ship is visible, but the problem is still there

it seems you and me have basically identical systems except for the 9800/x800, have you had a problem like this at all before?

Who me? I have never had this problem. Here is a total break down of what i am using.

Windows XP SP1
ATi 4.12 BetA
No Overclocking

It may be your motherboard drivers for your AGP chipset. What motherboard do you have? Post your setup here:

nothin, fuck, i actually got by the first gunboat but now this second one after the crane place i cant get by at all cause i gotta be close to it so the glitch fucks me over

If you can buddy, format your system and start from scratch. It may be quicker to have the game up and running that way.

Make sure that you stick to that link for the drivers, also dont put on SP2. Test and get back to us. Before you do all this: Backup your Half Life 2, by right clicking on the icon within Steam and selecting backup.
