Sad Richard Burns Rally Error - Missing\Flashing Textures

I've got the Richard Burns Rally Demo and when driving around trees, armco barriers, rocks, logs, spectators (except Marsalls they're there) etc are all missing. Sometimes when i'm driving around they flash on but for a split second then they dissapear again.

I've had a look around the net and many people are having the same problem with the full game (updated and patched) so i know if i buy it it will not sort my problem. The people who have the problem are people who have ATi Radeon 8500\9000 and 9200 and i have a Radeon 9000 so i'm one of the affected people. But it's driving me up the wall and i certainly don't have the money to get a more updated graphics card.

I have noticed a few things though
If you hold down F11 or prt scr button (both take screenshots) the textures come back on and stay on untill you release the buttons then they dissapear again. This is o.k but

1. It is very hard to hold down these buttons when executing handbrake turns
2. The fps drops dramatically

I've used all kinds of drivers including the Omega drivers (which by the way i'm sticking to as they gave me a performance boost ) but they haven't solved the problem

Does anyone know why this problem is happening and how to fix it

My Pc Specs are:
P4 2.66GHz
512MB DDR-SDRAM
64MB ATi Radeon 9000
Avance AC97 Audio
Please help or i might gag myself like this (lol)

Sorry I dont know the answer but I had the same flashing problems in H/L 2 coupled with lockups and memory errors.

I had already installed the latest beta drivers and then after fiddling with everything I could think of reset the pagefile to 'system managed'. That seems to have solved it and may help with RBR.

As for RBR, I started off playing it with a superb Hercules 9700 pro on high detail setting at 1280 res. and like an idiot bought an artic cooler so I could clock it a bit. The artic cooler didnt go on properly and I ballsed up the card .

I then bought an X800 pro and went to start up RBR and whoa it locked up at the profile loading screen and only runs in high detail setting with either fastwrites on or agp set to 'off'. I have been playing it in low detail with 'high sky' and got to used to it, I dont notice the detail when I'm flat out.

Good luck

Sorry again cube623 I just discovered that the pagefile suggestion is useless, I think the flickering textures thing may be the same problem as in H/l 2 and there are long threads on that.

Sad

Right after searching the net 1 more time i found a program called 3D Analayser and with RBR if i turn on force SW TnL and/or emulate HW TnL caps the textures are not flashing and are fine but...

then after about 1 1/2 mins - 2mins of playing the textures dissappear again for good even if you hold down prt scr or F11 they don't come back on untill you restart the game
don't know if this means something as i don't even know what TnL means

hey, there
ATi is aware of this problem
http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4657.html

so maybe they'll fix it in the next driver...

Sorry to bring this old message up. I have same problem with missing/flashing trees on Richard burns rally. I found that catalyst 5.1 can solve that out.

Fixed in this driver (catalyst 5.1):
  • Richard Burns Rally: Playing the game under Windows XP with an ATI RADEON™ 8500/9100/9200 series installed no longer results in the trees flickering
When I install it (after Reinstalling win-XP) , the problem still appear. I have also applied Richard burns update v1.01, which can reduced flashing trees. Then applying next patch v1.02 just make it much worse. My question: Is omega version 2605a (catalyst 5.1 based) can solve the problem? If not is there any driver (catalyst or omega) which I can use?
