I need some quick help. x800pro/6800gt pros cons
I'm about to either get a x800pro, or 6800gt in about an hour. But I can't decide since I haven't looked up on the newer cards all too much because I didn't think I was getting them.
State the pros and cons of both cards please. Such as, performance in certain games and drivers etc. Please don't reply if you want to turn this into flame. ANd if you could something more than obvious, like d3 performing better on nvidia, etc. |

First of all, is this PCI-Express or AGP? If it's the AGP, I recommend the 6800GT. If it's PCI-Express, I'd wait for the X800 XL. As for the pros and cons, here's a quick run down. 6800GT Pros: S.M. 3.0 support, 16 pipes, SLI compatible Cons: Driver release schedule not as frequent as ATI's. X800 PRO Pros: Frequent driver releases, quite fast despite the lack 4 pipes. Cons: Supports only up to SM 2.0, only 12 pipes. X800 XL Pros: Frequent driver releases, has 16 pipes Cons: Only support SM 2.0 As for the performance and all that stuff, it pretty much gives or take depending on what game you play. I mean, you can't really go wrong with either one if you're max resolution is 1280x960. Image quality wise, I read a preview of the X800 XL and he basically said questionable IQ from nVidia is a thing of the past. They're both pretty much up to par. As for the Shader Model 3.0 vs 2.0b support on their cards, it's not a huge deal, but if you're looking towards the future then you may want to consider it. I'd personally be happy with either AGP versions of the 6800GT or X800 PRO, but by far I would prefer the PCI-Express X800XL because of its price point and the power it packs for that price!
