Radeon ATI 9600 Series (Flickering on monitor during gameplay!?)

Hello, Im new to these forums and this is the first gfx card i've ever purchased.

I run;

Windows XP on a
2400 AMD Processor with
512 DDR Ram and
40GB HD

I installed the card munually myself with no problems, however as soon as i began to play games (mainly hl2, CS, CZ, Source and war3:FT) i noticed slight 'shards' of light flickering towards the middle of my screen. At first i tried to ignore it but it seems to get worse the further i get into a game.

I've read many posts on how to resolve this problem.. I've tried decreasing hardware acceleration, reinstalling the card itself and recently trying 'Omega Drivers' and Catalyst thingies too.

The problem still occurs and i really don't know what else to try, any info would be helpful!! thnx.

I just don't want to take it round the corner and get the man to fix it for £15

sounds like possible artifacts, which could mean it's a bad card.

Can you post a screenshot?

I have the same problem with my x800xt, have tried to fix it in a half year now. Pretty shore it's the card that is broken(from I bought it). gonna return it for check this week! sorry...bad english...don't want to use so much time for this little post. tnx
