GeCube 9550 Curiosity
First off, let me start by saying I'm an "nVidia convert". I bought a Radeon 9550 from GeCube after having used nVidia basically all of my life except for when I dabbled in 3DFX cards :P
The card, runs at 250/475 by default I can get it to around 325/525 before it starts to "misbehave" but I just wanted to ask one thing, why does it report as a 9600XT? Not that I'm complaining.. If anyone could tell me *anything* about this card I'd be grateful forever :P Picture of 9600XT |

becouse it's based a 9600xt core...
It should show up as 9550 if you useing current drivers but 4152 i'm pretty sure thats a RV360/9600XT device ID i'm guessing thats not the device ID that it should have.... should be 4153 this a 2nd hand card or new? have you played with the bios?

It's brand new so far as I know. I bought it from NewEgg just because I felt like trying a Radeon for once and this was supposed to be an interesting experience for a "budget" card.
Yes, newest drivers 5.1 and that god-awful control-center :P That's the card here: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...240-041&depa=1 Also, I have not modified the BIOS as ...I'm not very familiar with ATI cards nor do I have a PCI card here incase it went funky on me. |

The 9550 from Gecube uses an "RV360" chipset, which I understand is a 9600XT chipset.

I'd leave the bios alone flashing the bios can be a quick way to toast
your card....Won't hurt anything just the mfg used the wrong device ID only problem I for see is games auto configuring for best play the 9600xt and a 9550 is less power full so you might have to tune the settings down if you get low performance in any games...
