cpu speed never stays stable. It is supposed to go up and down. When your cpu is working harder - ie playing pes4 the number will increase. When you are back at the desktop and not doing much at all, the number will go down to 0.

What are you measuring it with? And what are the side affects? I don't think you actually have a "problem", you are just seeing a normal thing.

bio? pc alert? You have that running while playing a game or something?

I still don't know what the actual problem is, if it is just some variance in the CPU speed, that s normal...

I'm glad that you got the problem solved within PES4 (?) by tweaking the AA and AF settings within the game. I am surprised though that it installed with those settings turned on...

Woe, hold on a second, that is not normal. If it goes to 0 you must have a problem with
either the fan or the mobo.. Is the fan connected to the mobo? maybe turn off the power to the PC, UNPLUG the PC.. Then check the wires, wiggle them around a little, unplug them and plug them back in, dust everything off with compressed air, etc...

Then plug it back in and check. I misunderstood you before I think..

You are talking about the FAN speed right?

Are you experiencing visual artifacts, are textures blurry, is it just running slow? Slowness *could* be attributed to your CPU (Central Processing Unit -- the chip beneath the big heatsink on the motherboard) or having conflicting drivers installed. Visual artifacts are usually a sign of excessive heat or physical damage. Blurry textures is usually just the mipmap level and filtering level set in the Display Properties control panel.

I've seen this happen on my board. As long as it comes back from 0, you're fine, and nothing is wrong.

Ok, definitly get Motherboard Monitor and watch your Voltage readings; launch a graphic-intensive game in Windowed mode and take note of those, especially wqhen you seem to slow down.

Could you also post your normal 1.5v, 3v and 5v readings? It might be your power supply

I haven't read the whole post, but have you tried simply running a Defrag, Anti-virus scan and Spyware scanner. Those three things could literally bring your PC to a crawl if not done regularly.

Well a lot of motherboards have settings in the bios that will protect the CPU by shutting down in the CPU fan speed goes below a certain speed.. if it actually stops, or if it is giving a false reading to the motherboard making the mobo think the fan is stopped-- I can see why that might cause some problems!

Does the fan actually stop? Or is it just the reading on the RPM meter than stops? Is the fan dirty? <Maybe you need a new fan.. Is it old?

I can't see your heatsink- so you will have to figure out which size to get.. Get one that has an rpm output.
