x300 tv out = black and white
trying to use the tv out with an ati x300, but the it only displays in black and white on the tv screen. i'm in the us, using the ntsc standard tv, w/ s-video plugged right into the tv. also tried going through the vcr, but same result - black and white picture. does anyone know how to go about fixing this problem?
thanks |

Check your TV-Out settings in the control panel, and see if you are setting the correct (NTSC-M) standard. What drivers, and what OS are you using?

I would also double check the cable itself. See if any of the pins are missing/bent, and that it is properly seated in the connector. Take a look at the 2 pics below:
If the connector looks like this on your card: Check to make sure that the top left pin (#4) is not bent or missing. If your using a splitter that ATI might have supplied (that gives your S-Video, composite/RCA) then double check that as well.If it looks like this: then again, check the top left pin. That pin (pin 4) is the one that carries the color signal. If it's bent or missing it can cause the color information to be lost, and will display black and white. Also, if the cable isn't properly seated it can cause the same effect too. - Tip |
