oc 800xl? anyone done that?

Hi, I got a 800xl card that runs at 980 mhz. Wondering if anyone has any experience oc this card. Is it posibile to gain any decent performance increase from this card?

980mhz? on what the memory (DDR)
becouse the stock core is like 400mhz.... memory is close to 500 (close to 1000 effective)

BTW: unless your running moded drivers thier is built in overclock protection that drops the cards to stock speeds when and 3d application are ran....

Just look at the reviews...most the over clock them and give the results

Yep... Uninstall the ATI control panel application 1st
You should be fine installing over... But... you might use driver cleaner

You really should ask one of the others for detailed instructions or look for a over clocking tutorial before you try it... You can damage or kill your card if your not carefull and don't know what your doing...

Just now I found a article where they managed to get a 10% in mem and core. It was not a powercolur wich I hawe, but think ill give it a try later.

Where are you all live?! Oc X800 is possible and its up to 600MHz for core! How? Using cooling system from the fridge and power supply 500W. And it works! But, i n Poland, everything is possible... Like Celleron 300A at 1500MHz...

The specs are 500mhz for the memory chips on the built by ati coolers arent the hevey copper models. With prpoer added cooling to gpu and memory hard to tell what you will end up with.. the 3rd party cards can an often utillize higher mhz chips that will give better results.. also volt mods etc will chnage results also...

just a few quick review clocks...

Also remember the card is probubly a little power hungry sice it doesnt use extra connectors to draw power from the PSU ... extra power = extra o/c

Thumbs Up!

Hmm... in the official way it is barely possible to reach clockspeeds over the 500MHz for the Core of the X800XL. The X800XL is a lazy overclocker because it operates on relatively low voltages (I though 1,3 Volt ). The reviewing websites don't know this and say: 'Woah, just an 35 MHz overclock, very bad, we expected more.' But when you are ready to take the risk and rise the Volts, you are able to reach the 500 MHz-barrier as well!

Read this one for example, this is quite interesting : http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=55070

And what is going to happen when the extreme overclockingmethods are going to be used?
At XtremeSytems.org they are going to do that this weekend, so... let's see and enjoy!
