x600 xt hang during latest directx 9 games

Hi everybody
I have recently brought the Peak Ati Radeon X600 XT 256 Mb, but it seems to cause some problems when playing with the latest directx 9 3d games like Far Cry and Doom 3.
My System configuration is:

Gigabyte Motherboard k8nf-9
AMD Athlon64 3200+
512Mb RAM v-data
Maxtor S-Ata 200Gb
and, of course, Peak Ati Radeon X600 XT 256 Mb

The system is a Windows XP Service Pack 2, I have installed all the necessary driver, including latest nForce4 driver from nvidia, Catalyst 5.3 from Ati and from Amd the athlon64 driver.

But when I start Doom 3 or Far Cry, the games goes fine for the first 10 minutes, after that it hangs. The monitor show some fuzzy color and lines and then I found myself back again in Windows. I notice this happens only in those games while in other, like Fallout Tactics (a Directx 8 games), it works fine.

Now what I am supposed to do? Someone has an idea?
Please help

System Specs

Welcome to the forums.

As a first step, make sure your RAM is not faulty. Get memtest86 (www.memtest86.com) and run it for a few hours to eliminate this possibility.

Next, what is your Power Supply brand and model ? New hardware requires quality high-power PSUs to operate properly.

How are your temperatures doing? x600XT should have a temperature diode for OverDrive support, any readouts from there, as well as your case temperatures and CPU temperatures?

I will try with memtest.
The Power Supply is a 450W, I don't remember the brand nor the model.
The CPU temperature is 30°C, while the GPU temperature diode is not present. ATITool does not show any temperature information, so I believe the diode is not present.

I have tried to run Doom whit the case open, to lower the temperature, but whitout any result.

Greetings,
Jacko, did u sort the issue out?

I have the same sort of problem. I have just bought a Saphire Radeon X600 PCI express.MB is a gigabyte board ( not sure which model as am at work!) 1GB pc 3200 Ram. AMD sepron 3000+.The machine causes games to hang, but strangly only the game hangs, once I manage to get out of the game everything else is still running. I have been using Voice over IP while I am in a game, game hangs online but chat is still working.

Pc also hangs on occasion when going into windows XP. everything starts up fine but then windows is loading all its startup apps and gets stuck. I ran a 2 hour burning test last night, everything passed, video, cpu and ram all say ok. This is really annoying as a lot of cash spent for very little rewards!!
Pc Running genuine XP pro SP2. Every component in the machine is brand new. Nothing carried over from old machine.

Here's what I have done so far:
upgraded drivers that came with card to Catalyst 5.10
Run Burn in test - all says ok.
Checked Temp on CPU - 40 c. Nothing from graphics Card tho.
installed Microsoft .Net 1.1 for catalyst fix.
Unistalled graphics card, reloaded catalyst.
Re-installed Directx 9.0c

Please any help will be appreciated!
