System Specs

120.00 GBP United Kingdom Pounds = 224.788 USD United States Dollars

PCI express X700 pro 128mb, for AGP 9800 pro mb... thier both about $160 USD and up
PCI express X700 pro 256mb, for AGP 9800 pro 256 mb... thier both about $200 USD and up

everything else right now costs more but there are more cards to be added to ati's line up like X700 AGP, and X800 AGP...

everything right not else costs more... X800 SE and up all over $300 USD!
The best buy for pci expres is X800XL 256mb their running $279+ PCIe or $350+ AGP

But i'm relying on US prices

Cool!

I have a couple of nice ideas for you, according to what The_Neon_Cowboy says, that:
Quote:

,

The Nvidia Geforce 6600GT is a very popular option among gamers, it is a very good card which is able to cope up reasonable well with the latest games , but I was looking for an alternative for you. I live in Europe, so it is hard for me to decide what prices you have to pay in America...

I found this one: The ATi X800 256MB DDR3... A X800? Yes, but this is the Vanilla-version, 12 Pixelpipelines (<- mind this! ) and a 256-bit Memoryinterface (this is very useful in the higher resolutions and with more intensive use of Anti-Aliasing and Anisotrophic Filtering). This card is crushing the 6600GT very hard (also read: http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Ha.../gigabytex800/).

In Europe there is a difference in price between the 6600GT and the X800 of €80 (about 30%), and I guess that in the USA the pricedifference will be about 30% as well. So I think it is a smart thing to save a little bit of money and buy this honey ... It is a PCI-Express videocard, but there are no problems with AGP-motherboards as well, because of the Rialto PCI-Express-to-AGP-chip. Nice, isn't it?

But if you decide to stay on your 120GBP-budget, you should take the 6600GT. Not a bad option at all, you don't hear me say that. Good luck with your choice!

£130 is a tightish budget, however depending on whether you prefer ATI or NVIDIA there are quite a few decent 8 pipe options. Im not going to recommend anything over this price as once you hit £170 more options open up, ill just stick with the £130 you have as a tight guideline.

PowerColor ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB DDR TV-Out/DVI £132 (AIW £10 more)

OCUK 6600GT £132

System Specs

Connect3d 9800Pro / 128Mb £111.45 inc VAT

Galaxy GeForce 6 6600GT AGP8x 128MB GDDR3 Retail Box £129.98 inc VAT (P&P will take you just over budget)

Those are AGP solutions - also 6600 without the GT, a fair bit cheaper... and where do the top of the 59xx series fit against the middle of the 6xxx range?

A TIGHT BUDGET! - well, I suppose it is, when you consider where the top end is now, and what they cost - and even more frightening, if you compare their depreciation with a car - graphics cards and computer kit is probably WORSE!

Not so long ago, a 9800 (never mind Pro), would have been a top end, £300+ card

System Specs

get a 9800pro for ati or a 6600gt for nvid. If they are the same price or very close, the 6600gt is faster.
