Is it worth trading for?
I have a PNY 6800GT
I love it a lot, but my issue is that I am more of a ATi fan. Also the games that I play peform better on the X800 series I am looking to trade it for a X850XT/XT PE or X800XT/XT PE Should I do it? |

Even if you have the money, that's not gonna be a good move because the performance boost won't be significant and the R520s aren't very far away. The 6800gt is a good card anyway.

Waiting for R520 is a mistake. It may suck when it comes out and it'll be too expensive.
I'd say, if you dont like the card you have now, go ahead and trade it for an X800 or X850, theres nothing bad with doing that. But if the performance delta isnt worth the extra cash to you, then dont. Simple eh? ![]() In my opinion, I'd say it would be worth it *IF* you don't wish to overclock

You will be better off if you can trade straight up for one of the xt models.

Man I Want A 6800 Iam Sick Of Useing Sm2.0 It Sucks The Shadows Look Soo Sharp And Stupidly Dark!!!!!!! The Only Reason The X800`s Are Faster Is Because They Only Use Sm2.0 And The 6000`s Use Sm3.0 So Think About That!!!!

And I would keep the 6800 GT, i guess you could call it more future proof.

Yeah but if he's not overclocking, then an X850 does provide better performance regardless. As for my speculation on R520, it is entirely possible that it could suck unless its Crossfire'd with another card. Its all rumour mill stuff at this point, so its best not to be *TOO* optimistic. |

I would wait until the R520 is out just because of the price drops it will cause. I went from a 6800 Ultra to GT, then on to an X800XL. One thing I can say is Directx games definitely "seem" smoother, and faster.

Is it really that obvious? Wow you must be clairvoyant
![]() Why are you so hostile anyway. It was a speculation. You need to learn to take launch announcements for what they are. Remember NV30? |

You should concentrate more on thinking. If all you can say is "it may suck when it comes out," you should look a little deeper into the subject and say something that has meaning.

Perhaps I should, that isn't bad advice. But you learn to take launch announcements and rumour mills with a big big grain of salt. NV30 was supposed to be the Radeon 9700 killer...what happened? It wasn't, all that hype and all we got was a dust buster ontop of a PCB..hehe.
I do hope I'm wrong though. I hope R520 is good, it gives nVIdia some motivation to release something better, then ATI...and so the cycle continues |
