1 reason I like the Inquirer is because it posts most of the news around midnight here If this is true, then I am definitely going for a crossfire setup with 2 of these need to build a new computer anyways...current one is 3 years old with a broken video card

Just keep in mind that it is a synthetic benchmark. The only benchmarks that REALLY matter in my opinion are the in game benchmarks...aka real world application benchmarks. But, if this is a clear indicator of how it will perform in games, with it quite possibly being a nice amount faster than the Geforce 7800, then Nvidia will probably become desperate, and wont give up the performence crown without a long and hard fight...unless it is a recreation of ATI's 9700 Pro slaughter of the Geforce FX line. Also, keep in mind that ATI, to my knowledge, will have support for H.264...aka support for Blue Ray and HD-DVD in r520 card, while it is unlikely that the NV70 will have it.

correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't The Inquirer biased towards ATI? Making ATI's R520 on that article there on The Inquirer look better than nVidia's G70? To top it off, there wasn't a link or a screen shot of that 10k score of 3Dmark05.

Normally they come off as a buch of flameing nvidia "fanboys" in most of thier. They have some pro ati articals but of contain comments that thier basicaly"shoveling it" with
both hands. The place is used by both companies though....

I'll cut and past my comments from the news thread.....

We got some numbers from this card and it turns out that R520 scores more than 10000 in 3Dmark05. We still don't know its clock speeds but we know the score. For what we know Nvidia can not mach this with G70.

This is actually even better or equal to two 6800 Ultra cards in SLI which kinds of makes it looks ridiculously fast. Imagine R520 in Crossfire, what ATI "cool chap" described as "Coolest technology ever" could do? Just double the number please.

No question that R520, Fudo will be fast the only questions remains are when is it going to be out and when it will actually be available. We will hopefully found out more soon."

WTF? Read that carefully? The R520 is faster then G70 but then he goes on to
say it will be maybe better or equil to just a simple 6800U SLI setup... compairing it
to a 6800U setup... So how does the r520 crossfire just barely meet or beat a 6800U sli setup

When they also just said

G70 SLI is faster then 6800U SLI (G70 is faster then 6800U)
R520 Crossfire is faster then G70 SLI

the regular inquirer fluff...

No need to say anything. I don't know why anyone even listens to them because I constantly see BS coming out of there.

We should ban The Inquirer!
