Your fear has been confirmed: You'll have this problem if you get it now.

Hold on and see if 5.7 fixes it. If not, then you may need to seek other options...

I myself am thinking it's actually the Sapphire, but it's highly possible it's the VIA... I'm going to do something, either RMA, ssell it, but I'll let you know what comes out..

PS: Anyone wanna be a X800 PRO for $389? :P!

Bad news. I formatted.. and what do you know. Same problem. Although I do get 90fps! I didn't install the drivers for via's crapset, but I still got artifacts/missing textures. Back to the drawing board.

I have exactly the same problem. I have a ASUS K8V SE Deluxe and a ASUS X800 Pro ViVO. I've tried about 15 different drivers, I've relocked my extra 4 pipelines, I've tried detail levels, I've tried underclocking it for 5-10 Mhz, nothing works. Now trying the AGP4x thingie. Gotta have it working before my LAN-party that starts @ 8 July...

Oh yea. I took my computer apart, rewired it, removed unused cards, etc and my computer is running better AND I've seen a increase in FPS (about 5FPS) AND I no longer get missing textures/artifacts. Give it a try?

I'm still running my card corruption free at 4x but I'm trying to get my gf to bite the bullet and buy me a 7800 GTX and I'll just consider my problem solved...

Hey you should be buying your girlfriend the card not the other way around!

Then she gets a card and you just use it alot. works better that way.

The easiest way is just to convince her that its in her best interests that she has one.

Yes, I have on board networking so there is no need for it. And I also removed my TV-Tuner card, as I also don't use that.

I cleaned up the dust inside the case. I am running all medium now: Except I have terrian on high. I have 4xAA, and I run at 800x600.

Here are some screenshots:

51.4FPS. Yea, works great. I turn around:

18.1FPS. Yay, now I get stuttering, lag, you name it.. I got it.

Oh but one good thing:

Doom 3 v1.0, Ultra High, 4xAA, VSync, 800x600@60Hz (my refresh rate is locked :X)

Very little to no stuttering/lag...

I hate computers.

The hell would you be running v. 1.0 for, 1.3 has way better performance.

Also, running at High Quality vs. Ultra would let you run what you have perfectly smooth @ 1024x768 without a drop in quality, Ultra just uses uncompressed normal maps instead of compressed ones. Doubt you'd see a difference.

Doom 3 is stupid. Plus, it's not like I actually *payed* for it.

You're missing the point. Doom 3 runs perfectly, meaning my video card is fine. If Half Life 2 runs fine (I also had issues with it like missing textures) then that means my PC is just perfectly fine, and it's Battlefield 2 who has the issue.

Ive had the same problem as you guys,Ive spent 2 whole days diagnosing my problem and i think ive cracked it.ive got an asus mobo and a sapphire radeon x800 pro,1 gig of 400 ddr ram.First of all i flashed my mobo with new bios update from ASUS,I uninstalled all drivers from pc for ati card, and used catalyst remover from ATI site.I changed my mobo back to 8x agp as i had changed it to 4x to get it working. Then installed newest ati radeon drivers back on to system. Also, this is what i think was the main fix, I connected my Graphics card directly to the psu(450w) instead of having it connected to HDD and fan,This gave my card full power from the PSU and now it is working perfectly. It may be a power problem as ATI cards use sooooo much power from PSU.Does this help anybody else?? one last thing, doing DXDIAG on directx test it works on each test and has not got any artefacts on screen.

The PSU suggestion didn't help me as I'm already running a dedicated line to my X800 Pro. I just downloaded the new Catalyst 5.7's which I'm about to try (running at AGP 8x) but I did catch this:

Battlefield 2: Geometry corruption or missing textures maybe noticed when playing the game for an extended period of time under Windows XP with an ATI Radeon® X800 XT installed. Further details can be found in topic number 737-19709

well for both HL2 and BF2 you "should" be running AA and AF App preference and using the in-game GFX options to set up the "Eye Candy" IMO. I messed with BF2 a bit trying the CCC's AA settings and App Pref and App Pref works much better overall

Can you tell me if it fixes anything? Or if the problem gets worse?

This is the topic number: https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...resultLimit=10

According to that, the problem is *fixed*...and occured in 5.5 and 5.6 . But according to the "Issues with 5.7" it is NOT fixed.

Things were looking good for me until sure enough, after about an hour and a half, black textures started to appear. It didn't seem as bad as it has gotten at times but I stopped playing after that moment. So while they might be on the right track and know of the problem's existence, it certainly isn't fixed (at least not for me). However, I did notice gameplay was smoother with these new drivers.

The Catalyst 5.8's are out so I decided to give them a spin. One of the fixes says something about no more display corruption with X800XT. I tested them and not only does BF2 run a lot more smoothly but I'm also getting no more display corruption at AGP 8x with my ATi X800 Pro!!! Looks like our fix is here...
