Ati 9700 Pro? Omega Drivers & Radlinker
ok, ive done a fair bit of searching and havent found what i was looking for...
Is it possible to overclock a Ati 9700 pro? I do have omega drivers and Radlinker. When i move the sliders up (Radlinker/Clock rate) i notice distortion on my desktop and in game, im not tring to break anything to the sliders have only been moved up a few inches. my pc is a Dell 8250 P4 2.4Ghz by the way.....thanks in advance! ....Also if Radlinker Isnt For Overclocking What Is It For? |

AHAHAHAHHAHAHAAH a few inches.
NO my brotha. look at the numbers. go up in steps of 5MHz on the core until you start seeing distortions IN GAMES reset the core go up in steps of 5MHz on the memory until you start seeing distortions IN GAMES. As a general rule of thumb the core usually goes further than the memory. okay radlinker allows you to set custom profiles for different games... specific clockrates, AI settings, visual quality settings. not just games, but any app that has a shortcut so you can use radlink to create a profile for 3Dmark etc too. |

If you are indeed moving the sliders a few inches, you're lucky distrotion is all you got. Just go a little at a time (like 5mhz that was mentioned) and test in a 3d intensive area, such as 3dmark with full aa/af and if you don't get any distortion, keep going. And, if you don't like radlinker, try ati tray tools or the new release of rage3d tweak if you're using catalyst control center.

ok, i said a few inches but i didnt mean it like it like that. they both start ouy at 263.25...i now have the core at 303.75 and the memory at 276.25 is this good? or should i go for more. As far as distortions they happen just above these numbers...I dont know if this will help but i air dusted my pc in hopes that this will help.....also how do i save this profile on radlinker everytime i restart the clock rates go back.
ok my max is going to be 317.25 core 263.25 memory you guys think if i installed a fan i may be able to increase it a bit more?

Something isn't right. The stock clocks on a 9700 pro are 325 for the core and 310 for the memory.
Did you buy the videocard from dell?

Wasn't dell's a tx model? Basically the same card, but lower clocks than even the 9700non pro.

yeah i got that for my 9500pro softmodded to 9700 i ran like 400/310....
push it as hard as you can, and get the heatsink if you don't mind spending the money. or you could put it towards your "Buying a new videocard" fund. i think it can be used with the Xxxx series of cards but it might not be good enough for the X800 and higher and you'd probably have to get the ATi silencer if you wanted to overclock that. |

www.arctic-cooling.com, generally the best heatsinks available for videocards unless you want to run off and make your own out of a modified cpu heatsink which seems to be popular amongst hardware enthusiasts. but AC's stuff performs just as well as, if not better than the custom stuff.
i guess this page would be the most interesting for you http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga1.php |
