yes i did. let me tell u wat i did.

first, i uninstalled all ati related stuff frm the control pannel, and then restarted, and in safe mode, ran driver cleaner, with filter, ATI, ATI WDM, ATI uninstall utility, andATI CCC. than restarted again modded the cat 5.7 using the modder, and than and than, after installing, everything goes blank.

ya, i got the same problem as you NX7010

I have the Compaq X1000 with the Radeon Mobility 9200
I've tried using about every method i can think of to install either the Omega Drivers or the ATi desktop drivers
Long ago it worked fine
but something about these new drivers are screwy
My screen goes completley blank and i can't get it to start up again
Although, the screen works in safe mode

I tried installing the Omega Driver that was based off of the 5.6 ATi drivers but windows said that the driver was for a previous version of windows so it would boot me in a super low VGA mode (with like 4-bit graphics...dang i thought Windows XP didn't support anything lower than 8-bit)

If anyone has any advice please post
especially if you know the fix!
i'll post a fix if i find one
but i'm running out of ideas
i'm going to test the VGA out to see if thats working
maybe i can do something from there

Perhaps the new drivers are causing you to boot up in an unsupported display mode?

well...last time i have known my laptop supported 640x480

i checked the VGA out theory
and well apparently it puts the VGA out as monitor 1 (is that usual?)
no luck in getting monitor 2 to work (at least if it's truly the laptop monitor...could be the S-Video out)

*sigh*

I'm going to suggest trying something a little unusual...

Get the Omega 4.12s (2.5.97a) from here:

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=940

You may have to use Patje's modder to get these to work, but I was using them on my laptop below without problems in games (just the ongoing video problem that is laptop model dependent...). Others here vouch strongly for that version's stability and speed - I do too.

Once those are working ok for you, uninstall the Radlinker portion, and install Omegadrive's 5.7 version without (yes, without...) uninstalling the Omega 4.12 driver. I can't remember if you have to use Patje's modder on the Omegadrive 5.7's - you'll have to research and use your own judgement...

Basically this establishes a foundation of a working Omegadrive driverset, then you'll be updating using his "standard" procedure, which is supposed to be just install over existing driverset - and that has worked well for me for a long time. That might work...

i have a hp zt3000 with a mobility radeon 9200. i just did a fresh install of windows xp sp2. i had been using modified catalysts for quite a while so when it didnt work this time i was a bit suprised. it seems to be a problem with catalyst 5.7 and it's derivatives (patje modded, omega, dna), i tried them all. when windows starts on any 5.7 my display is very corrupted, just a bunch of garbage. as soon as i tried 5.6 it worked perfectly. im trying to compare 5.6 and 5.7 to see if there is an easy fix... but i doubt. im also about to try 5.8... ill update here.

yeah 5.8 was a no go here too. i did some comparison between the sections that the mod tool adds and whats already in the 5.7 cx ini files, it may be that there is some new registry settings that need to be accounted for.

or perhaps we'd have better luck modding the mobility catalyst 5.7 drivers. problem is i can't download. all they have is a utility which will download them for you if you have x700/800. i've searched all over, everyone is just mirroring the checker. does anyone have the actual driver package or the url to the file on ati's site?

I too have had the same problem with the latest ATI Catalyst drivers. I have tried official and DNA versions with no luck at all. If I use my external monitor all is well, but when I use my internal screen, it gets really distorted. I can still see something, but it's about 15 overlapping copies of the same image. I have prettymuch given up and continue to use the Catalyst 5.6 drivers with the DH Modder with much success. We currently have a thread in my X1000 Forum and we have yet to come up with a solution either. Come and check out our forum and the specific post at:

http://x1000.kylefarnung.com/index.php/topic,43.0.html

Hopefully we can solve this issue since right now I'm in no hurry, but when radically new versions come out, I will be annoyed by this. Hopefully we can work something out to make it work.

ati must have actually removed m9 support from the drivers. as far i can tell, this is the end of the line for mobility 9200 owners. i tried everything on a fresh install of xp sp2. 5.7 based omega, dna, modded ati, and ati mobility 5.8. the mobility 5.8 would not install when modded or unmodded. so i modded them by hand to point the m10 install sections, which resulted in the same corrupted display i got with everything else. maybe someone can dig further than the ini's. until then its back to 5.6 based drivers of any flavor

I do have to say that I am able to get the drivers to work on my laptop if I don't use my internal display. Using my desktop LCD (Dell 2001FP), I was able to install the drivers and use it successfully. I don't think this is really a problem with the chips compatibility, but something with how it connects to the display. Something about the way HP did it seems to be non-standard. For whatever reason, they changed something in their code that caused this issue for us.
