I will be purchasing a new card soon. (see my specs in my sig to see what I have now - my current vid card is made by SAPPHIRE). I am looking for the best possible card that will run on this board (**socket 393** ABIT AV8 3rd eye).
I would like a card that has at least 256MB on-board memory. Obviously, the card will be used for high intense gaming. Also, I would like the card to be below $450 US dollars). I have owned nVidia cards before so if there is any nVidia card that is better than ATI at the moment, let me know. However, I have been VERY happy with ATI so far. The one card I was looking into getting was VisionTek XTASY VTKX850XTPEA Radeon X850XT PE 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO AGP 4X/8X Video Card. This is priced at $376 at Newegg. Here is the link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814129048. The other card was a SAPPHIRE 100111SR-RD Radeon X850XT PE 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO AGP 4X/8X Video Card. It appears to be the same type of card as the VisionTek but about $45 more dollars. The link for the SAPPHIRE is here; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102519. Now since these two cards are the X850XT PE model, I wonder why the money is more for the SAPPHIRE. Is VisionTek a bad manufacturer.OK, so this is what I have found that looks within my range and appears to have what I need but I am not sure how big of a performance boost I will get from going to either of these two cards vs my ATI 9800np. Any other ideas and/or recommendations is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Either one of those cards will be at least double if not 2.5 - 3x the performance of your current card especially at higher resolutions.
And FWIW VisionTek is a fine manufacturer and if its cheaper then by all means go for it.
