EEK! Screen cropped; can't change resolution

Greetings all - first time poster, long time lurker.

I decided to install the newest Omega drivers on my laptop. It has a mobility 9600 (I believe, though it could be a 9500). Before, everything was peachy-keen. Now, the sides of the monitor are "cropped out" - it's like the reverse of watching a widescreen movie on a regular TV (the sides of the screen are black). Also of note is that the only resolutions I can select now are 800x600 and 1024x768. Thinking this may be a bug with the newest drivers, I uninstalled and tried the newest ATI set - the problem is still there. I am positive I downloaded the correct drivers (mobile and not desktop). I can't, for the life of me, figure this out. Previous settings allowed me to select 1200X800 (I think). Assuming I uninstalled/reinstalled everything correctly, what do you think could be the problem?

Thanks so much for any help.
