Please provide system specs...hardware, OS, motherboard, etc.

I take it you are talking about an upgrade, where you swapped out your old PSU & vid card, and your comp ran OK before?

I have an HP 1230n with amd 64 3700+..

Some due told me I have to install the driver that came with my card and i started to do that and ran into an even bigger problem.. While trying to install i got this message:

GeForce 7800 has not passed windows logo testing to varify its compatibilty with windows xp. Continuing your install may impair or destabalize the correct operations of yo system either imediatly or in the future. Microsof tstrongly recomends that you stop the install now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed windows logo testing.

what do i do now?

you have to install the drivers, thats probably your problem. you have to uninstall the old. i suggest using driver cleaner (read the directions) clean out all your old stuff, and re-install the new.

make sure to not remove your chipset drivers tho... unless you want to update them, which sometimes is a good idea... could cause problems sometimes.

what it sounds like is... you installed a new video card without uninstalling the old drivers. so driver cleaner should work. then install the drivers for your new card from the website.

meaning if you have an ati card, goto www.ati.com and download the drivers... but if you have an nvidia card, download the nvidia drivers from www.nvidia.com

it looks like you went from ati to nvidia or nvidia to ati, and having the old driver is going to cause problems, they cannot co exist. dont worry about the driver on the disk that came with the card or the computer itself, just download them from the net, it will likly be better.

HP website says that rig has ATi integrated graphics.
  1. Get out manual
  2. Enter BIOS and disable onboard video
  3. In Windows, go to Control Panel and select Add/Remove programs. Remove ATi Display Driver and ATI Control Panel (or Catalyst Control Center).
  4. Reboot.
  5. Install latest nVidia driver
See what happens!

lmao, just get a programe called driver cleaner pro, download install, go to control panel/remove any references to graphics card, reboot into safe mode, ignore the pc telling you about installing drivers, then run driver cleaner (read instructions carefully). Reboot your pc, either install drivers that came with the card, or preferably use more up to date ones.
And lol b4 you you leap, look
