Radeon 9600XT Corruption

Hi there.

Recently my 128MB 9600xt began to display this kind of artifacting after a few minutes of running windows normally. It seemed to be random after a few minutes of smooth running, but I could trigger it by doing something GPU-intensive like opening an openGL app.

Is there any kind of consistent reason that graphics cards would suffer visual corruption to this degree?

Thanks in advance.

I would say its to do with bad memory or a heat issue. If OC'ed, try putting it to stock or lower. Also, see if you can get a temp reading to see it its too high.

I didn't use any overclockers other than that throttler that ATI put out, whose name I can't presently remember-- overdrive maybe?

Its definately an overheating card.

Dust out the thing pronto and try and find a replacement heatsink
