Problems booting up with radeon 9700 pro
Yesterday, my computer froze up on me while I was trying to download a demo, so then I shut it down improperly out of frustration. I try to turn it on today, and the monitor has no power. Assuming that this may be a video card problem, here's the steps I went through:
1. Restart the computer several times 2. Unplug and plug in the monitor cables securely 3. Using the onboard video card (monitor cannot recognize its signal) 4. Removing the 9700 pro and brushing off the dust off of it 5. Reset the motherboard battery, and reconnected the video card After repeatedly switching back and forth between video cards and many combinations of tries, my monitor still does not get a signal from the 9700 pro. I have a VGA silencer on it, but I did not have it overclocked and it has been running on stock speeds for quite awhile now. The weird thing is that when I plug the monitor into the SiS onboard video card, it gets a signal at Windows bootup, but whenever it goes to the desktop, it instantly loses a signal saying that its not set at 1280x768 (native resolution). When I plug it into the 9700 pro, I can't even get a signal, even at bootup. I have also checked the power lines and they are stable, and the VGA silencer fan is still running. There seems to be no signs of the card being fried (it's also winter...). This has happened to be numerous times before, but it usually would start up when I reset the battery, but not this time. CAN ANYONE HELP ME ON THIS ISSUE????!!!! p.s. my power supply is a thermaltake silent purepower 480 watt, if that helps any.
