Anyone have a x1600?

If so hows it fair? Most of the sites that have reviews on a x1600 have numbers before the drivers have had a bit of a chance to mature. So I'm curious on responces from owners.

I'm thinking of nabbing one when I upgrade to PCI-E as its the only card I can purchase that has 512 vram and is under $200. Makes the upgrade to pci-e a little less painful if I'm not paying $400 for a video card.

The X1700 and X1900 lines will be out very soon. You could wait for a X1700, as I think the X1600 is a bit too weak.

Depends on what you want really. The X1600 is (performance-wise) between a 6600GT and a 6800, so, if you combine that with its price, which has fallen substancially, makes it a rather attractive buy for someone on a budget.

Radeon X1600 Pro Video Card (512MB, PCI Express x16, Dual DVI)

I own this card. It's almost a mystery. I can't seem to find any benchmarking or thorough reviews. It's driving me crazy. I'm not unhappy with it, but I think my compulsive purchase was misguided and I should have waited about a month or two for the next series to arrive.

The previous poster is correct. I would buy the X1900 series if you can afford it. It's gotten some of the best reviews I've ever seen for a video card. Stuff like "The best video card of all time".....

I've got the AGP 1600Pro and absolutely love it for what I need. I'm not all about eye candy, but I upgraded from a 9600XT to this and it has been better than expected.

It all depends on what you need. I'm able to run all the newest games on 1200x1024 with 4x AA and AF.

For the price I can't really say anything bad about it, but as always there is something better around the corner. If you spend all your time waiting for the better thing to come along you'll never upgrade
