Michigan iPod proposal possibly influenced by Apple

Two Michigan lawmakers who support a plan to spend millions of state tax dollars order to buy an iPod for every child in the state may have flown to California thanks to Apple. The accusations raise questions as to whether the two lawmakers support the plan so heavily because they genuinely support it or whether it was due to the financial influence of Apple.

yes yes.... one of, if not the poorest state in the country now wants to piss away millions on ipods.

not like theres anything better to spend htat money on around here.

Ya know I saw that on the local news here today (Grand Rapids) and it disgusts me.

I have a teaching degree and schools are literally dieing because they can't afford to pay their teachers even base salaries (so they are LAYING THEM OFF) and yet they want to SQUANDER MILLIONS on ipods for Kingergarteners and other elementary students. Who most likely would end up breaking the ipods before the year was over because they are KIDS and KIDS should not be given EXPENSIVE gizmos by a PUBLIC INSTITUTION that is there to EDUCATE not provide ENTERTAINMENT.

Bah...I would have a teaching job here if they didn't make such piss poor decisions rather than be working in retail management! What a waste my 5 year degree was...not like they pay teachers very well for a 5 year degree anyways....I mean 28K is the STARTING salary for a new teacher. You know what's sad? I have employees workign under me that make more than 30k a year just for stocking shelves without even having a GED!!!! it makes me sick.

Teachers are the most UNDERPAID professionals in the COUNTRY and no ones gives a rats ass about it. People use school as a babysitter not as a means to help educate their children. Where did America go wrong? Look at her education system.

Bah...ipods in schools....even worse than giving every single student a lap top to use in class.
