TechTool Pro is a good one, but it costs money.
Otherwise, Onyx is a good system cleaner.
The only defragger I've ever used is iDefrag but I'm sure there's free ones out there.

It doesn't, the levels of fragmentation are so low it makes no difference. The only maintenance tool I used was mac janitor which was free. Only needed to run it once every so often and it cleared and sorted through log files, tables etc. http://personalpages.tds.net/~brian_...acjanitor.html

Unix is a very tidy operating system. Doesn't need the same work as Windows.

thats not entirely true...Macs fragment loads, but OSX has a built in defrag thing that works in the background. I notice it especially when i let the thing sit idle on my desk for awhile but dont let it go to sleep mode.

Windows does fragment a lot more though.

Anyway mostly what you need to be concerned about is repairing permissions. At least thats what I've noticed. Every time things start getting sluggish, I go and repair my permissions (Which can be done with built in OSX utilities) and it goes for 20 minutes or so and then everything is snappy again. It is possible that my computer just sucks (something that I've come to realize) but I've noticed that doing HUUUUGEEEE things for me. Try it out.

Or perhaps one of those suites does the same thing. I don't know.
