Wired News Benchmarks Show Safari 3 Is Slower Than IE 7, Firefox

Apple CEO Steve Jobs touted Safari 3's speed as one of its most appealing features. But in tests by Wired News, the first public beta of Safari for Windows is actually slower than both Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2 when accessing Ajax-intensive web applications.

To test each browser's speed, I measured download times for the following test cases:

Time to download the login page for Google Mail
Time from login until the Google Mail index page appeared, with 50 messages, and all graphics and message status indicators
Time to launch Google Calendar and display two subscribed calendars

The beta safari crashes constantly for me and it renders incorrect all the time, a piece of shit. And yep it's beta, but my god it's really really useless atm. And the way Apple has handled Quicktime and iTunes on Vista, I'm not really confident they can deliver a properly working Safari for Windows, plus lets not forget that Safari actually sux alot on Mac also...

I thought safari loaded quicker on my work machine. I dont like not being able to set the scroll with the middle mouse button so it has the up/down arrows. Also, it was downloading dll files off the internet and putting them on my desktop! rubbage!
