iPod memory glitch?
I use my iPod as a disk drive and to play music, so I have about 1gb of data on it. Around 300mb is music, and the other 700mb is just files and programs and stuff. But when I look in Properties, it says it only has around 100mb free. When I look in at the iPod info on the iPod itself, it says that I used 1gb of 1.8gb. It's a first-generation iPod nano, 2gbs.

right thats correct. a 2gb ipod nano has about 1.8GB of data. I know it kind of sucks but heres a basic run down of how things work. when a company makes data storage. any data storage. they'll say something like "1gb" or "2gb" or "500gb" right? but what they really mean is 1,000,000,000 bytes. or 2... or 500... etc right? but the way a computer works, 1 kilobyte is not 1000 bytes. its 1024 bytes. and 1MB is not 1000 kilobytles. its 1024 kilobytes. Catch my drift? so technically what they say is true, but in practice its not so much. so for instance my "120gb" hard drive only gives me about 111GB.

Yes but he says he only has 100MB free of the 1.8GB, yet he only has used 1GB.

oh i see...hmmm..
well theres a chance you have more stuff stored than you think... but chances are that if itunes says you have 1gb filled out of 1.8gb then you're okay. Try filling the sucker. put another 800mb of music on through itunes and see what happens. if you're really worried, I'd do a factory reset though. wipe the sucker and reinstall the firmware. Or take it into the apple store to ask.
