Age Of Empires III - and expansion packs

If anyone played these on the PC and are lucky enough to have a new Macintosh with Nvidia onboard I recommend you revisit the mac versions. The original V3 and the two expansion packs are available and they run very nicely indeed. Some nice additions to the game, such as a slightly overhauled engine and a few neat touches on the environment.

If, like me, you long for the old strategy days these are ones to check out. They will keep me busy until Starcraft 2 hits Windows this year.

I didn't like AOE III , I think II was more realistic , better graphics and harder.

Re: Age Of Empires III - and expansion packs

better in its day maybe but i think you need to see AOEII now to appreciate how much better 3 looks.

Re: Age Of Empires III - and expansion packs

Well worth it DJ, ive been a little disappointed recently with strategy games. Ive been reliving some old memories lately. Haven't really had the time yet but its enjoyable in short bursts when I get a free hour here and there.

Haven't tried it on the macbook air yet, but it runs great on the pro with the nvidia graphics.

Re: Age Of Empires III - and expansion packs

after playing AoE and AoEII as well as got my hands into some of the Empire Earth and other strategy games..... i oventually had to default back on that gameplay is far better then overall apperance and "extensions"..

AOEIII (watching some youtube vids of the enhancements mentioned) does look great... But sometimes i like the barbaric nature of AOE..... if it had the sound/graphics of AOE III i think it would do great.... actually i always thought it would be great if developers allowed for "arcade"/"Retro" modes in their newer games...

Re: Age Of Empires III - and expansion packs

wouldn't mind seeing your opinion of how it runs on the Air, as I'd like to play it on the go or in bed- i'm actually tempted to install starcraft on the Air for the same reason

my desktop will run it just fine i think

found it instore today, but it's a little bit out of my budget atm (shifts are tight at work and i've got a few bills that need paying) but i may have the cash next week...

EDIT: Does it have multi-player? and will it work with the PC version over a lan?
