Mbp + x25-m ssd = ftw
![]() ![]() Unfortunately my Santa Rosa based MBP is limited to SATA1.5Gbps But still very quick. From the time I hit the restart button, it restarts, and open itunes + mail takes just over 30 seconds

Can you put those in regular macbooks as well? I was on a mb the other day, and the spinning sound of the drive just drove me nuts.

You can you can. In fact that looks like a regular macbook, am I mistaken?
You do need to have experience taking them apart though, and a proper plastic tool to get around the way apple melds their cases. I do believe the regular macbooks sit their hard drives on the inside now. Not so easily accessed. They're the same size roughly as a regular 2.5 though

Re: Mbp + x25-m ssd = ftw
Mine is a previous gen MacBook Pro. Not exactly easy to install the drive, likely similar to most notebooks out there. You don't need any special tools, just a philips screwdriver and a number6 torx.
MacBooks are way easier as all you need to do is remove battery and take out 2-4 screws. It it meant for n00bs to replace, and yes it will work. The new MacBook Pros are just as easy as the MacBooks. I can't believe how quick this thing is. I can open every app on my computer in less than 10 seconds (but to be honest I don't have a whole lot of stuff installed).

Re: Mbp + x25-m ssd = ftw
I imagine it would be difficult plus you'd need a 1.8" drive. The 1.8" version of my SSD (X18-M) is pretty damn pricey I do believe too. North of $400USD.
