Suggestions for iPhone protection case?

I'd like to buy some sort of protection for my new iPhone. I've been looking around a bit, but there's a big selection and I wanted your personal experience so I can make up my mind.

I'd prefer to use the phone without any protection in order to keep it as slim as possible. But I'm a bit worried about the screen. I read some good things about this protective film. This one looks nice as well.

I was also thinking about a case that encloses the entire phone, but there's always the danger of having sand grinding between the phone and the case. I have had this issue with my mp3 player for which i bought a silicon protection. So I disregarded that idea more or less.

Last thing: I read about a case that had a built in extra battery - it was called Moby Airpack Juice or something - but it looks bulky and I wonder if I really need the extra 'juice'.

The protective film looks like the best solution. Do you have any recommendations?

i use a leather "slip" to carry mine, and just slide the phone out when I need it

Im going to buy a plastic film for the screen and see how it works out. Otherwise I'll try a solution like yours dj_stick.

A friend of mine has a really nice back protection along with a screen protector. It keeps it nice and slim in your pocket (which is what I look for too) and it doesn't "stick" to it (I found with a cheaper case when I grabbed my phone everything else in my pocket came out with it). I'm not sure of the name though
