Macbook Pro, duo 2.33ghz, Bootcamp
Hey folks, since I'm not asking a question, I'm not going to search to see if someone has already said this. Maybe google will find this for someone looking for such info in future. I have a Macbook Pro 17", duo-core 2.33ghz, NOT a unibody machine. I recently did the Bootcamp thing because I wanted to run a particular pc game on it, and found that although the graphics 'looked' okay in Windows 7, when I was playing this particular game/sim (Aerofly Pro Deluxe) things were NOT right, graphically speaking (the textures for many or most planes were goofy, flickering, etc, and when I loaded some planes the game would just crash). I remembered finding this site for the tool to modify desktop drivers, as ATI does not make drivers available for download for the ATI Radeon X1600 that is in my laptop. So I came back again, used the tool on the latest drivers for the desktop version of the Radeon X1600, and re-loaded my video drivers - and BANG, everything is awesome! Now, Bootcamp rocks for this purpose, dual-booting to Windows 7; I'd heard that the Macbook Pro can run Windows 7 natively, and had tried simply loading that from scratch when I had to replace the hard drive because the old one died. I had a few issues, and could never get audio to work, so at the time I gave up and loaded OS X, Snow Leopard, which is a sweet OS. BUT, when it comes to games, ya gotta give it up to the PC world - there are a 1,000 PC games for every Mac game out there. And so this time I tried using Bootcamp to load Windows 7, which made EVERYTHING work, no bangs in device manager. Only the video needed help, and THIS site, using the fantastic Mobility Modder, was JUST the ticket, making my video run perfect, even with needy games. Heck, the Macbook Pro gets a better Windows 7 Windows Experience rating (4.6) than my desktop PC (4.4), which has a hyper-threaded 3.6ghz processor, with a 512mb pci-e....hahaha, just noticed for the first time - my pc ALSO has a Radeon X1600 with 512mb video mem, and the pc has just a little more ram than the laptop, coming in with 2.25gb of ram, compared to the laptop's 2.0gb. (And not to leave a number out - the Macbook Pro's video card has 256mb.) So the beautifully engineered Macbook Pro outperforms my desktop hardware - pretty awesome, but no surprise to Mac lovers. Anyway, I just wanted to post this somewhere - THANK YOU, Hardwareheaven, for making Mobility Modder!!!

The processor with HT you mentioned is a single core unit, right?
Anyways, enjoy your machine.

Re: Macbook Pro, duo 2.33ghz, Bootcamp
Yes, my desktop processor uses Hyperthreading, a technology which....simulates duo-core. There's a lot of debate about whether a machine is more effective with it enabled, or disabled. But for sure, in real life, it's a single core unit, vs the Macbook Pro's true duo-core processor.
