How to start a DirectX program in windowed mode?

Hi!

Is there anyway to start a DirectX program (specifically Perfect Sudoku) to run in windowed mode? The game has only 800x600 screen resolution and it looks like crap on my lcd, so I was wondering if I could just run it windowed, but ALT+ENTER doesen't help

Any ideas?

yes there is. theres a program called dxwnd search for it. any direct x application it can run in windowed mode.

if u cant find it, pm me and ill upload it

Thanks, but it doesn't work. I always get an error "Failed to initialise graphics hardware - please check that your hardware meets the minimum specifications"

Do video card drivers (or OSD settings?) have any options to run everything at it's native resolution? (so that 800x600 will be 800x600 in the middle of the screen with black around it)

Sorry if this seems really basic, I've had little experience with LCDs, but setting up my Toshiba laptop, I noticed that it had a BIOS option to do exactly that, so everything stays sharp looking all the time, even though it doesn't fill the screen.
