Lost sound?!
Everything was first fine, but now i lose the sound after a few seconds of playing a game. In flatout in the countdown i hear all engines like its supposed to be, and when the race starts i lose my own engine sound.
in gta sa i got all sounds, except the sound of the car im driving. and sometimes it comes back for a second, and then its gone again. in Titan quest i got all sounds, except when i hit someone with the sword.. again no sound. and sometimes when a creature falls on the ground i dont hear it neither.. what could this be? corrupt sound driver? broken sound?

Sounds like a driver issue, what do you mean by "everything was first fine"? Has this machine worked fine in the past? How long ago did this start.

I know it might be hard, but can you recall what you have done in the last 2 days? Install anything, update anything, Any details on what you did 2 days ago could help figure this one out.

well... i had a LAN the last 3 days. I've installed different things then. but no drivers, didnt update anything (except something for my printer, hp stuff). searched for a no-cd for titan quest (so i dont have to use the cd everytime...)
so maybe the sites i visited could have done something with addware/spyware or something? (ive installed mods for halflife: natural selection, the ship) but as far as i know, nothing that could cause this...

I seem to have this problem with World of Warcraft.. Some sounds are either very faint, or don't seem to be there at all. Like mining, the footstep sounds.. etc. But background sounds seem clear. I did check to make sure my speakers were corectly wired, and my audio control panel was set. On my end, I did a format, and re-installed everything (drivers, critical updates, and WoW) from scratch. This did not solve anything. The sound drivers I use is the Youp-Pax 1.33 set. I'm not trying to hijack your thread, but I thought I'd bring this up. As far as it goes on my end, a fresh install of windows did nothing to solve it. I was thinking about switching my sound card (audigy 2) ports, but i don't know if it'll solve anything, as I used to have normal sound before with the card being in that slot. Or maybe decreasing the sound acceleration from DXDiag might help. I also tried various things as posted on Blizzards support forums. I haven't had alot of time to figure this one out. But I'd love to hear some progress on your situation. |

i dont use a soundcard, just the onboard thing. i really dont understand what might be wrong. but its too bad nobody else is coming with some suggestions what might be wrong..
installed new Nforce driver, and updated my Realtek '97 driver... hope that will do the trick.. edit: could this get moved to the audio section?

so... did the realtek do anything?
speaking of which, on my SiS650 audio for this p4 asus board when it used to be in the xp..... i updated audio drivers once... bad idea, it turned into some sort of 'off untill used' sound, so at each sound that comes there's a pop & first part is cut off too, & also a stutter/pause of the sound..... i rolled back to whatever came with the mobo cd |
