Am I mistaken, or, aren't questions regarding Warez frowned upon here?

And, I'm assuming that, since MCE cannot be purchased as a standalone, warez is the only other option unless it's already pre-installed on a computer and, therefore, renders the question moot.

???

Is that a question? If so, that's what I'm wondering, too.

My son has been wanting MCE for a couple of months related to his XBOX 360. But, to our combined knowledge, it's only available pre-installed on a computer.

no, it's an answer. it's just i've never purchased it myself, and like you to check the info out.

he probably won't tell you if he is going to use an illegal copy of the software.

and i don't think we supposed to care IF there is a chance that this software is regally selling as an OEM copy lic.

This is what I was looking at. I thought you could buy it I seen some reviews done on it and thought it was out for sale.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/m...r/default.mspx

and here is where I was going to buy it from since you atomatically think I am going to steal it

All of the information I've seen states that the only legal way to get MCE is to get it pre-installed. That's what I'm going by. In other words, if someone is selling it without it being pre-installed, I'd have to question whether it's being sold legally or not.

I'm not actually trying to make an accusation. I'm basing my response on everything I've read to date about this.

If it CAN be purchased legally, I'd want one, too.

Newegg has it up for sale. I dont think they sell illegal stuff and here is the link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832102358 its rather exspansive.

Wait on the box it does say for pc manufactures or assemblers only. So I guess I that kind of leaves us out. I got my hopes thinking it was ready for everyone when I seen they had it. Guess we have to keep waiting

well, the OEM version of the MCE 2005 is available on the open market, newegg online store sells the Microsoft product, i don't really know what you have to be... in order to buy it.
just don't spend your money with someting like this on someplace like eBay, you probably won't know what you're buying until it's too late.
