Firefox update problem
I have a problem where Firefox can't update anymore. Going to 'Help' -> 'Check for updates' gives this error:
AUS: Update XML File Not Found (404) Checking for updates in the 'Add-ons' window gives: An error occurred while trying to find updates for [add-on name] , though not for 'DOM Inspector' and 'Talkback'. For some reason 'BugMeNot' doesn't give an error either, but the other 17 add-ons give this error. I had this error with Firefox 2.0.0.6 and hoped 2.0.0.7 would help, but even after installing it manually, it still gives the same error. I have Firefox set up the same way on my laptop with no problems. Any help/hints/tips? Andreas |

Try uninstalling Firefox before installing it again, if you already haven't.

I have tried it, but with with no luck - the error remains after an uninstall and a reinstall..
Other ideas? |

uninstall Firefox again, then unhide all the hidden files on your Windows, then use Windows search to find 'Mozilla' and 'Firefox', and remove the folder by that names, and then reinstall the Firefox, and see if this helps.
if you know how to clean up your Firefox profile, or start the Firefox with a clean profile, that should help too. you may want to download all the add-ons to your local drive first, because the above will remove everything and you will have to reinstall them. Yeah, I thought it was going towards this - I was just hoping someone knew an easy fix instead
![]() But I guess I'll do some backup of add-ons and bookmarks and do the 'complete uninstall' if I don't find a solution soon.. Thanks for your suggestions! |
