i'm a typical gamer, internet browser with broadband w/o ADSL and the services I disable are:
Alerter - manual Automatic Updates (ewwwww) - disabled Error Reporting Service - manual Help and Support - manual IPSEC - manual Machine Debug Manager ( The mdm thing from office ) - manual Messenger - manual ( This is not MSN messenger ) Portable Media Serial Number Service - manual Protected Storage - manual Remote Registry - manual Wireless Zero Configuration - manual I think that's about it. Hope this helps

Oh and don't disable Task Scheduler or you will disable the prefetcher completely.

i've managed to get my running services down to 14 at the moment.

got mine to 10, when I use my batch file to stop the other running services when I don't need them.
