unrecognized .pst file

I have an outlook archive that i would like to access and it doesn't seem to be recognized correctly.... when I originally created it, i zipped it and moved it to a backup disk - but somehow it got corrupted. To unzip it I repaired it with IZArc, and then tried opening the .pst with outlook and then scanpst.exe, both with no success. Does anyone have an suggestions?
