Do you mind sharing what it is that's wrong with the drive you need recovered? Is it a boot drive that won't boot anymore? Did it start giving off a lot of noise and clatter? Or what?

In many cases where a drive has gotten corrupted, I've had excellent success just connecting it to a working system as an additional drive and then running the full Disk Check program from Windows. If it's formatted to NTFS, you've got a good to excellent chance of restoring the drive. But, keep in mind, it can take literally HOURS to get things back to normal.

I've done this with a few boot drives and the people were able to get back into Windows again afterwards with no problem.

So...exactly what's the issue with this one?

So, whatever is on there isn't priceless enough to put out some money to get it back, right?

Here's a Demo Version but I haven't tried it myself. (I don't normally format HDDs by mistake. )

UNERASER.Recovering deleted files.Free Download.

Here's another one that's trialware. If it works, you can opt to purchase it.

Accidental format recovery

Partition Magic has a partition undelete tool that might work for this purpose. Not sure if it only works if you've deleted the partition accidentally or quick formatted it but worth a try
