great article on recovering deleted files

Didn't think it would be possible with free software, but it is! I'd like to share it with the forum, and keep the link here in case I lose it as well! hahaha

Re: great article on recovering deleted files

Yes, it's a good article, but I've read that we should be careful with Undelete Plus, because its version 2.97 includes an ad banner, and it stores the ad images in a user folder on the C: drive. If the files that should be recovered are on the C: drive, it may overwrite parts of them. That's why I prefer paid programs. I bought Advanced File Recovery. This program doesn't contain any viruses, spyware, adware, or any other kind of malicious software. And it works perfectly for me.

I like Piriform's Recuva ... if it actually cost anything, I would pay for it. But hey it's free like Ccleaner and Defraggler... and it works GREAT.

Re: great article on recovering deleted files

just a little update... it seems Recuva does pretty much what all those expensive applications do ... FREE !
I just used it on a formatted disk and pretty much had no issues whatsoever. As long as you don't overwrite data, that data is still on your disk... but why pay so much for an app when a free one does the trick?

I've said this before and I'll say it again: you can do everything for free on a computer... free office free recovering free antivirus etc...

not everything, definitely suitable alternatives. like backing up your iphone playlists are not doable for free (literally pulling off the playlists from the ipod touch/iphone and rebuilding it). Thousands more tasks require an actual program you need to buy. But google is your friend to free utilities. gParted also saved me once!
