Blackout
I've been facing this problem recently, when i play WoW or start it up.. almost immediately or after a few mins my laptop screen goes black(basically the screen shuts off and im forced to restart the computer). I thought it was a hardware problem but then even after gettin the laptop checked at the dealer im facing the same problem and seems like it only happens when i play World of warcraft.
Comp specs : Lenovo Thinkpad T60p, T7200(2GHz), 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD, 15.4in 1680x1050 LCD, 256MB ATI FireGL V5250. Im guessing its more to do with some software problem and not hardware. Kinda a computer nuub ^^ so wasn't sure how to post the Dxdiag file here but i'll jus add some details that might be useful Card name: ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5250 Chip type: ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5250 (0x71D4) DAC type: Internal DAC(400MHz) Driver Name: ati2dvag.dll Driver Version: 6.14.0010.6755 (English) DDI Version: 9 (or higher) Any kind of suggestions would be really helpful

Have you tried running any graphic intensive programs or games other than WoW? It sounds like graphic card is overheating.
You could try running ATi tray tools which supports OSD with information about speed and temperature, so you can rule out or confirm overheating.

thx for the reply, yes i did try other gfx intensive applications, more so the game was working fine on the laptop for a very long time and according to the forums quite a lot of other ppl were facing the same problems and some of whom had some top end specs. Due to this fact i thought maybe there's some way i can fix it otherthan the gfx card problem.
Incase it is a gfx card overheating problem, how should i go about it? replace the gfx card? |
