Custom made icons disappear

I am wondering if someone can help me with this one. I downloaded a program to make custom icons for my desktop for a few shortcuts that just had the standard explorer icon. Anytime I open a program, any program, not the ones with the new icon, and close it, my icons disappear and there is just a bin file showing in its place.

When I restart the pc, my custom icons are back. Been trying to get this one on my own and am having trouble again.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure what program you downloaded, but, here's a link that might have some help in regards to making sure the icons don't disappear....

Program is called Sib Icon Editor. Was a very easy program and was free.

I will check out the Favicon.com

Dire, seems the favicons is for icons in the address bar of websites and stuff. The icons I created are for desktop. I tried some of the rules applied for them but it didn't work.
